Corn - I passed along your Old School training method

I officially weighed in last night at 225.5.

I'm back to lifting at my gym at work. Well, there's a group of about 4 guys that lift together and have since I started there last year. A couple are pretty decent sized, or so I though when I was 190 lbs, but none of them seems to have made ANY progress from the first time I saw them. Anyway, one of them was lifting alone last night and worked his way into a conversation with me (I'd just finished a stiff leg dead lift set of 245 for 7 :D ). He said that they'd all noticed how yoked I was getting. He then asked about my workout. I told him it was 3 days a week, full body each day. Instead of telling him about it, I just Xeroxed it for him. I tried to tell him how important intensity and diet were for this program but I don't know if he got it. I also told him to run it no more than 8 weeks and then switch back to a regular workout.

He actually tried to argue a bit with me about the rep range. He was saying how he liked to do the 8-12 range. I just told him that was the workout and it's worked for me. He asked me what else I was doing, like supplements or something. I just cut him off and said it was all about diet and intensity (I don't need to share all my little secrets).

Anyway, thanks for the program. It's made a big enough difference in my body that the "hard core snobby dicks" in my gym couldn't wait to get ahold of it.

Here it is for those that haven't seen it.
Old School thread

Good deal.

There is a guy on the training board that was ripping on the program. Said there was no way that people were gaining 2-2.5 pounds per week. LOL!!!

Glad to hear that you are spreading the wealth. Amazing that people will stay with the same routine after all progress has stopped.

Insanity - doing the same action over and over again in the hopes of a different result.

Would you mind coping this thread and posting in the Training Forum??

Frorider6 nice to hear you got some solid gains out of the program.

It's so funny. When I started working out there, I was skinny (about 185-8) and weak. 135 on bench was a struggle. These guys had their little click and worked out as a group. Nice enough guys I guess but never really were friendly with me. 14 months later, they're trying to get my workout because they're all still doing the same weights and routines.

And I saw the back and forth with that guy. The proof is in the pudding so to speak. I'll copy this on the Training forum right now.

Nothing wrong with a power lifting cycle occassionally.

But I agree-that it would be way to taxing on the nervous system to follow more than a month or so.

It's pretty rough, especially if you lift with full intensity. Every working set leaves me gasping for air and a bit light headed. I have to rest about 2 minutes just to catch my breath and get ready for another lift.

fro gj on your gains. the clique that you're talking about - are they squatting and deadlifting? or do they stare at you in awe while you're doing these lifts wondering wtf is going?

Oh I can testify to the gains. I gained a total of 16 pounds on the Old School program. I did it for 10 weeks. I thickened up considerably. Tons of people noticed the gains, asking what the hell I was doing. 5g Creatine x 2 and 2 Protein shakes a day was perfect.
Its alot of squats and deads, and 5 x 5's....whoa...now I'm doing another program, but will definately cycle in this one.

I've passed it along to a a couple of guys looking to get a good base started.

Thanks Cornholio.....

I see them squatting occasionally. I can excuse one of them, he's had knee surgery. I never see them deadlifting though. Occasionally I see one of them doing Clean and Presses but only with about 95 lbs.

These guys really are too cool for school though. They alway chuck their dumbells for anything above 50s. I was military pressing the 75s last night and didn't even come close to dropping them. If you can't fully handle the weight then maybe you should go lighter. It works for NYCboy .
