Competition #2 For Anyone and Everyone

Hat off to Hick, this competition has really taken of, and that’s at the best time of the year, summer shirt off and the abs have to show!!!

I’m in, need some encouragement and this is just the thing for it.

Age 26
5'11"
175 pounds
BF% approx 14%
I'm taking pics & measurements on Saturday (next day off from work)
Program:
4 days a week weights lifting, 2 body parts a week
5 days a week cardio form Muay Thai or various sports, or treadmill
/elliptical after the weight workout for 30 mins
Diet: here is my mistake, often under eat for my activity level but just started a food journal and will keep close track. Right now my ratios are 40/30/30 p/f/c. Now eating 2050 kcals on lifting days and 2400 on Muay Thai days
Supps: Multivitamin, Omega 3, Flax, Whey/Casein
My goal is to lower my BF% under 10%

Now here is a question, my right wrist and forearm are still hurting on my 2nd superset of bis so I have to take the weight down to 10 pounds for the one arm. My other arm use to be sore like that too but the soreness has gone away. Do I keep on plugging through with the right arm, use lower weights, use the same weights? I use my wrist support on the right, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I was also think of changing the exercise this is what I am doing right now....
any suggestions to change it up??

4 sets of 15

one arm barbell
tricep push ups

incline db
french incline press

alternating db
tricep cable
One arm barbell curls? That's a lot of balancing for the wrist to handle. Could be straining something. As far as barbell curls go, I always had pain in my wrists & the top, inside of my forearms, near the elbows. I switched from a straight bar to the Cambered bar & that seems to have done the trick. Extremely strict form has helped tooo.

ck I would adjust the bar or exercise, I wouldn't lower the weight for one arm and not the other...

Form is key yes, and maybe add forearm/wrist strengthening exercises to your routine.

Working safely through ACHE is different than working through pain .. I do not recommend the latter

Hidin/bunny - don't use the straight bar and have been trying to concentrate on form. will look for the forearm/wrist exercises! broke both of my wrists twice so I know that is part of the problem! part - probably is the problem!

Left a message for a new trainer, so going to see if she keeps me on this program or gives me another. My other trainer is way too busy for me which I know is good for her but not for me!!!!

  to you both!

Muchmass-Glad you joined. I see you like Muay Thai.... I was thinking of geting into MMA.

CK- Sometimes when I get a joint pain/forearm pain/ whatver it is I will spend a week or two with lower weights and concentrating on getting full pump. Maybe try less free weights and use more machines. I usally hate machines but they have thier place. So I suggest you maybe grab 5lb DB and when you curl them just SQUEEEEZZZ your muscle as tight as possible threw the whole range of motion. Its funny because you will be tired quick. Thats just me though. I wouldnt recommend lifting less with one arm either. Maybe try some of those balls that you roll around in your hand..... NO NOT YOUR HUBBYS.. the little metal/glass ones. Those help me after a hard forearm workout.

If you already have previous injury or muscle imbalances, why create more? ya know?
Your 'trainer' should address these issues accordingly during the assessment period ... FYI, if you pay them $$ they are at YOUR service ... too busy = her job ... ( sorry I must have missed you got another trainer, but still ... they are starting to worry me )

Cityhick - LOL! hubby will like your suggestion way too much!

bunny - I am starting to get worried too! I haven't had the BF% tested since march, she wanted me to be lean for the summer, and well, yes this weekend didn't help, but nothing to much has been changing. and exactly, I am paying them to work for me and well she hasn't been. ARRRRRRR Feel like I have been left to figure things out on my own and that is not good.

I haven't talked to the hopefully new trainer yet, but I am going to let her know everything!

Thanks for the suggestions everybody, crazy girl being frustrated has now stopped! hee hee (well at least the frustrated part)

CK drop that trainer and bitch and say you want one that cares and knows what the hell they are doing. If not start taking shits in the garbage cans around the gym and telling them they should clean it up because that about all they would be good for.

Your doing AWESOME with the cardio! I LOVE IT!

maybe with a tornado watch you'll ride your bike even faster! :)

Didnt do cardio today but repped 55 DB Curls for the first time. I squat about 270.. not so hot but it goes up quick. Feeling powerful and hungry today. I need a shower. Go pistons.

Nice job HICK!

I actually double sessioned the Gym yesterday. both PM,

i sqauted and biceps.

Ass to Grass 275x3. Tried 300 but missed it.

Nice 55lb DB curls are nice bro, I dont worry about biceps too much, so i go heavy too, I usually Hammercurl 45lbs.

Cardio was intense yesterday,

threadmill: 3 min warmup running @ 7.0 for 12 mins
stairmaster: W/ Weighted Vest(50lbs) for 10 mins @ Level 6
threadmill: 7 mins @ 3.0 incline @ level 6

Intense, gotta get my FULL set of abs back =]

Go kill that shit City,

Always

But 275 beats me. Im working on it though.
Got a couple days off work so I am going to be able to eat real good and get in all my workouts for once. It will be nice to say the least. Nice to be able to run the dog too. Go up north maybe this weekend. I dont know if its placebo or if I really am getting that much stronger from the test... it shouldnt have really kicked in yet. Oh well I feel more powerful then ever and love it.

How is this for cardio: Walked up hill for 3km pushing a double stroller with my girls in it, and tried the jacobs ladder at the gym, did only 10 minutes/100 calories but holy sh*& what a workout, my goal is to do 1/2 hour on it eventually. It is a hot one here today, may do some more cardio on the treadmill tonight, we will see how much energy I have by the evening.

I was going to say "I HOPE" but I know everybody is WORKING HARD!

WE ROCK! :)

Well, I rode my bike to work today. 17 km each way. More downhill on the way there, took a longer route home, so 50 min this morning, & 65 min tonight.
I'm supposed to do legs tonight, but, I dunno, we'll see.
I gotta watch my meds & supps when I do that. My glucose went under 3.0 this A.M. Got all sweaty & jittery, had to eat some carbs & dextrose. Normal range for non-diabetics is 4.0-7.0.
Hick, I'm jealous of your curls, man. I'm not even close.

MM, I'm tryin for a 315 squat. That's my goal, for now. Closer, closer. Good luck.

ck, kids=cardio, LOL. BTW, what's a Jacobs Ladder? Is that that thing you grab with your hands & step with your feet? Looks like you're spider man climbing a wall?

Yup, I was spider woman! You better watch yourself! :worried: Do you bring food/meds with you or wear a med braclet? (I know it is the mom in me, but seriously)!

Hopefully pics tonight, if I have the patience to try figure out my computer again.... BUNNY???? :)

I don't wear a bracelet, but every one at work knows, & many have experience with diabetics. I do have dextrose tabs in my locker & in my tool boxes, in my van, & in my knapsack. I have cans of juice & packets of sugar stashed too. (That's the boy scout in me, LOL).

Good to hear! I know sooo many people who don't take care of their diabetes and it bugs me, not that I thought you didn't but especially with how hard your working, I wanted to make sure you had extra stuff on hand!

My buddy hasnt been taking his slin lately.... herion addict. Stresses me out. I dont know if he will OD before his diabeties kills him. I hate heroin.... its taken to much life outta the few friends I do have. And there are VERY few success stories.

I'm lucky not to be on slin. Pills only, so I can self medicate a litle.
My brother's on slin & it really is a pain in the ass.

I can honestly say I've lead a sheltered life. Except for a few alchy's I've never known anyone who's been consumed by a substance abuse problem.

My buddy has a constant pump of insulin in his boddy. But he still doesnt eat right. I grew up in upper class suburbia and it just happened to be that most of the kids I grew up with have substance abuse problems. I have had MANY run ins with the law but never really have been addicted to anything. Not even my skoal :) . But I have had a good number of friends die from accidents and ODs. I have had a pretty crazy/wild 19 years on this earth that have had enough close calls/deaths of friends and myself that would satisfy a 100 lifetimes. Im slowin down now though.

Aside from driving drunk, when I was younger(and no accidents), I've had few close calls. A few school aquaintences have died of illness/suicide, but no violence, & non were friends.

try not to supinate your wrists, in other words, use dumbells and keep your wrists facing inward throughout the whole movement. I had the same aching in my right wrist and I could only curl with my palms facing inward. You might also try to keep the dumbell in front of you rather than on your side....

thank you for the advice, I start with a new trainer on thursday and I have told her about my wrist, she is giving me a new program so it will be interesting what she comes up with. My last trainer gave me all bicep exercises that I do at my side. I try to keep my wrists inward but they just snap back! but again we shall see on thursday! :)

Hope your new program will bring you back at 110% ck!!
I just recently had a thumb injury form not having my hands wrapped before sparing during Muay Thai. I’m glad it was my left hand since it totally sucked, couldn’t do anything with it, I turned into a cardio bunny for three weeks...

You were a MUCH MASS MACHINE! :)

there you go, MUCH MASS MACHINE sounds much better!

Yesterday was a crazy back/biceps day; I thought my head was going to pop from dead lifting, felt great… :chomp:

Muay Thai today and maybe some shoulder work if I will have some stamina left, just love these dead bed workouts

Would love to see some pictures of you guys,… see where every one is at, will post mine soon

You shouldnt, deadlifting is my FAV excercise so i put ALOT of work into it.

Have you maxed out yet? If not i bet u can lift more then u think!

but the best part is im still only 185, or alittle less, and im aiming for a 500lb pull in several months lol (or atleast i tell myself i will)

Well I KILLED THAT SH*& at the gym today. did jacobs ladder again 3min/rest/3min/rest/3min/rest tried the bike but my knees were killing me (stupid hack machine) however, going shopping with the kids so that should definitely burn some cals!

Everybody have a GREAT WEEKEND!

Good to catch up on this thread and feel the energy going on in here. Just got off an alcohol fuelled food fit - feel like shit both mentally and physically - such a dumbass. Still back to it today, low carb, heaps of water and cardio to flush the crap out. Have to wait a couple days for progress pics now til the bloat has gone.

PRd incline DB press though - made it up to 15kg dumbells - so really pleased about that especially as my chest was the weakest part. Now it's biceps. I have noodles for arms.

Off to cardio now.

CK - you crack me up girl!

Take care of your knees girl. You gotta walk on em for another 70 yrs.

Another P.B. on Deads. 325 for 4.
Another P.B. on Rows. 170 for 5.
Another P.B. on D.B. Rows. 60 for 7
Felt awesome today, after my workout. Before, I wanted to slay, :chainsaw: :bigbuck: :jamesbond :fryhim:

Yesterday, got 5 hours of sleep, and spent the ENTIRE day moving an old lady that had no idea what was going on. Got home at 10, woke up at 9.....yeah 11 hours of sleep (is it bad to get excess sleep?????), went to the gym today, and died. I had no energy for anything, and think i should've made today a deload day. This week (just finished) was my 10th week on SF 5x5, and next week i am taking it Easyyyyy.

Wow, I'm impressed, MM. I can't remember your pics before, but I'm particularly impressed by your shoulders & back.
Overall I think you look pretty good, but if you did want to improve, I'd say, your legs, lats, & bis/tris.

thanks hidngod! yeah i know ive been hitting my lats hard so im trying to blow them up, especially for my bench. Biceps, ill work on them, def harder. The triceps, im always trying to blow them up for my bench, in fact i REALLY KILL THEM when i do them.

Legs, they are thinning out from the cardio so they are loosing theyre size, thank god, they needed to changed from some fattyness, to muscle.

Thanks again hidnegod, thanks for the motivation.....

Good work mm107, you've really packed on some good size with very little fat gain. Doing things right bro. K to you.

thanks all for the encouraging words, because they really are encouraging. The gains seem to be so slow and gradual somtimes one gets the feeling that nothing is happening but when total strangers acknowledge the differrence and "strangers in the know" at that, its definately an encouragement.
Note: I will take pics of the wheels also and post soon.
By the way when does this contest end again?

I think Rand might have already won this comp. :) Amazing isnt a good enough word to describe the transformation that you have had in 20 weeks. Keep up the good work.

Great work William... you've been doing some serious self-ass kicking there!

Highly unlikely... but i would love to eat my own words :)

thanks man believe it or not I find my motivation from my 2 year old princess. I want to be the best role model for her, always trying to improve all around, ie. physically, mentally, spiritually, financially. Nothing gives me that kick in pants first thing in the morning, like knowing that I will do everything in my power to be around (alive and kicking) so I can be a "active" parent for her.

NOte:Only a father will "truly" know what I am talking about

How are supps treatin' ya?
Way too much work & drama on the weekend. Gonna try & take them tonight.
supps are meh. I'm gettin a little more energy from the C.B.. I had to cut back on my diabetic meds because of the GlucR. I've actually gained about 5 lbs. I'll see when I'm done. I honestly didn't expect much, because I never get much effect from supps. Creatine has no noticeable effect except for water around my ankles(inside the skin, not out). Even the old Hydroxycut, I never felt energized, only jittery.

Well in the studies on the people using Glucorell, I think they completely go 'off' the diabetic meds ... and don't need them after a few months ...
You may want to PM Ulter or read up on www.insulow.com regarding that matter.

Gained 5 lbs? Water weight? Scale weight? Hows the diet? How you you feel overall? How are your clothes fitting?

What Creatine are you taking, obviously NOT the Purecee if you have bloat like that, right?

Are you taking 1 or 2 caps CB? I've been off it for awhile, but 2 caps literally pops my butt outta bed in the morning ... I miss it .. *sigh*

Working towards that. It's a tricky deal though, trying to keep Glucose low, while not too low.

Scale weight. Diet is so-so. I'm a comfort eater, & with a lot of drama in my life right now it's a struggle.

It's called NOZ, by Nutrabolics. Has Creatine Ester Orotate, Arginine AKG, & Citrulline AKG. Also, Tricreatine Malate, Glutamine, R-ALA, & Beta Alanine.

Creatine. I've taken other brands also, & the only time I get the water retention is with a highly elevated dosage.
Clothes feel about the same. I'm goin for a workout in about 1/2 hr. I'll take pics then.

im starting my 5x5 plan today, SO, be ready for a change. Im officially going to cut down, on the 5x5 plan, it leaves me plenty of time to do cardio =]

Plus im going on ECA(premade) stacker, and i picked up some YES, so combined two should have a great effect on stubborn belly fat.

Good luck, pics tonight.

The legs are from carrying around 250+ lbs for the last 20 yrs. I'm gonna concentrate on fat loss & chest & arms for the next coupla months.
 to all. (that's protein in the mug)
