Ok so no gym today, I had some bidniss to take care of ;)
Had to go meet my staff and get into the swing of my new role :)

Training for the GB squad tomorrow. And it's in my old boxing gym from when I was in the army!!! Lol!
 
Glad to hear that the cardio is giving you a noticeable lift bro. It sucks to do it but it pays off so nicely in your sport.

Yeah I hate going it but it pays off. And I'm looking better than I have in a long while :)

I got all my meals packed for tomorrow, plenty of quinoa, pasta, rice salads with olive oil dressing :)
Carb heavy cos I'll NEED it but a little protein with each meal, but not too much ;)

Aw man am I shagged!! 3 hours of sparring! I'm fcuked!! I was so shagged I ended up picking em off again! Oh well... I had to do 5 rounds with only 45 seconds rest between rounds. Was bloody hard. Especially after a shit ton of drills and themed sparring. I ate before during and after :D then came home and ate more! I'm aching like a mofo right now and I know I'll be stiff tomorrow. Hot bath and early night for me. Then I'll be going for a li'l walk tomorrow, do some stretching in the park. Monday I'm kickboxing in the PM and I'll be finding myself a gym in the am. Lol there are three that I have friends in but there's one 300 yards from my house!! I think I'll join the one near me and train with my friends once a week. A different friend each week, lol.

Couldn't get anyone to film it bro sorry :(

Dont be afraid to eat during the sessions bro. It will keep you fueled up and you wont be so wasted at the end.

Yeah I was the only person eating, everyone else just had isotonic glucose drinks. I could only manage very small amounts of pasta/rice/quinoa but it certainly kept me fuelled nicely. That's one advantage I have, I can eat as much as I want, I don't have to make weight :D
Although I would like to come in at 220lbs @ 10% BF or less.

I had a chilled day today, went for a walk, loosened off some but I'm still stiff from yesterday.
Tomorrow I'm hittin the gym and gonna include a nice long bike ride :( for the ole cardio stamina. In the last few weeks before the fight I plan to reduce time on the bike sessions and increase intensity very last week before I ship out I'm gonna take everything nice and easy and eat a shit load of carbs. :)

Running is good conditions for boxers but I think pumpin that dam bike is even better. The longer sessions IMO do your heart more good then running. Also your legs are moving at a faster rate then when your run for a longer time. All good!
If your bike has a RPM meter you want to keep it at 80+. That way your knees wont bother you if they are good to start with.

Hey all, sorry I've not posted in a while. Had my brother come to stay for a bit. We did plenty of old school training. Sprinting with ankle weights, medicine ball work, sparring in the park :D good shit!

Last I weighed in was 108kg last Thursday and my bf is 10.5% so I'll be dropping the heavy lifting and decreasing my caloric intake further. I feel at the moment everything is pretty much where I want it to be except my weight, and lifting is just building muscle so more sparring, bag work and general cardio.
 
Sounds good bro. I think your going the right way in dropping the weights for now. You should have plenty of power so time to kill the endurance. The only thing is be careful on dropping the cals too much or you gonna be worn out and slow to recover. So to combat this use Sports Drinks. Generally I dont recommend these to my good peeps but I feel that in your case it would def benefit you on recovery. Gatorade and the like.
 
Yeah I think gatorade is isotonic. I'm thinking I'll make my own isotonic drink. It's not too hard, just needs to be a solution with 6% glucose, pinch of salt and a drop of sugar free ribena for flavour :)

On my way home from training. Had a good session tonight. My fitness was on point! So 2 days to pretty much just chill, work lightly on technique and stuff my face with carbs :)

Today has been chillin out, stretching lightly so I'm nice and supple tomorrow and eating plenty of high carb foods. Rice, semolina, pasta, fruits, some vegetables and sweet potatoes.
I've made 3litres (about 5 1/4 pints) of isotonic drink, 6% glucose, pinch of salt and sugar free black current Ribena for flavour and I've got a couple of Tupperware boxes full or more pasta and quinoa with a touch of olive oil and pesto for flavour. That little lot should keep my energy levels right up there :)

I've mostly been trying to ignore the fact I'm fighting tomorrow, I find if I dwell on it too much I get nerves, nothing major but that slow release of adrenalin certainly eats away at your energy. I can't help visualising my eventual fight with Freddie (the Frenchman) he's lighter than me by 20kg (44lbs) which means he'll have a speed advantage. He's a strong fighter, not talented like me, but definitely strong and I'll have to be on my guard against him. I really think he's my only real competition. Just my luck to come up against one of the only frenchmen who actually chooses to fight rather than run away! Lol!

Oh well, time to watch some TV and let my dinner digest, then am early night. Got a big day tomorrow! :D

Interesting thing, I'm actually a C fighter, a defensive fighter. I attack to get them to attack so I can defend if that makes sense. I like to draw them onto counter shots, more damage with less effort on my part. :)

I've had 10 hours sleep and I'm still sore as fcuk! This won't do. I'll be fighting the same four days in a row at the worlds. Gotta pick up training some now :)

And plenty of kicking drills. I need to get my legs back to their former glory, I've got the technique but I really need to work in my muscular endurance in my kicking muscles. Also plenty of long ass boring as fuck cardio. I need the first couple of rounds to be a breeze fitness wise. Yesterday I had a plan I stuck to, beat em convincingly in the first round, coast the second to save energy, then beat em again in the third. Only problem was they came at me hard in the second as they were playing catch up. By the third I was heaving but still managed to fight through. At the worlds I'll have to do the same as yesterday but 4 days in a row so I need to be REALLY fit. Hence dropping the weights, I'm gonna drop down to 220lbs even though I know it'll mean losing about 15-20 lbs of muscle. At 220 I'll be faster and won't need so much energy to move my frame around the ring but I reckon I'll still have the same power.

Yeah still using the bike. As soon as I get down to 220 I'll try jogging again.
 
Bro I would leave the jogging. Dont wanna see you aggrevate that foot issue that you have. On the bike, keep the tension low. You should be spinning the pedals at 80-90 RPM and your HR should be around 135-145.
That will do you very very well bro.

You can do that easy on the bike man. Incorporate sprints! Do not add tension but increase your RPMS to max effort till you cant do it any longer. Then slow it down till you catch your breath and hit that bitch again. Am guessing that would be roughly 110-120 rpms. This will get you bro.
 
Well I'm leaving Cardiff. Two very intense days right there :D

Circuits yesterday and some old school bag and ball work today.

9x2 min rounds I did and added wrist and ankle weights for fun ;) seriously though it speeds you right up! :evil: improves technique and of course makes it a fuck load harder!
Finished off with 15 mins pad work and some stretching and I'm done!!

I'm gonna work on cycle sprints tomorrow :)

Today, cycle reprints 2 mins sprint 1 min rest on and off for an hour.

Kickboxing and I did 5 rounds in a row including one round against two opponents :evil:

I'm good bro, no longer working for the man which hasn't quite freed my time up as I'd liked! Lol! I AM getting plenty of kickboxing training in though cos I'm fighting for Britain at the end of the month in the world championships (you may have known already if you read my log...)

In terms of bodybuilding I've had to take a few steps backwards :( I was too heavy (not for my division as I'm super heavy anyways) I needed to drop the lbs to increase my speed and stamina. :D I don't look anywhere near as good as the last pic I posted but what the hey! I'll get back to it once I'm champ! Then lose it all again for the European champs next year!!!
 
I'm BACK!!!! Lmfao!

Ok so it's been like ever since I updated last so I'll give a run down of what my training day looks like.

AM 3.5km jog 20-23 mins (I think it's about 2.5 miles...?) followed by 10-15 mins skipping (jumping rope) stretching 1 hour.
Eat breakfast (high carb!)then a long ass, hot as fcuk bath!

Crack on with whatever things I have to do!

PM mon & thur is 1.5 hours kickboxing training which usually includes abs and Circuits. Tues,weds & fri it's 1.5 hours on stationary bike the 30 mins shadow boxing done in bouts of 3x2min rounds with 1 min break in between rounds and 4 mins break in between bouts. Finished off with stretching.

Saturday I train with my French mate in the park for 2.5 hours.
Including
150 squats @ bodyweight
60 press ups
60 dips off a park bench
20 mins skipping
Drills
Shuttle sprints
Abs
Sparring
Basically and literally EVERYTHING! And it fucks me up!
 
Last squad training day before the champs today. Gonna train till I puke!

Ok so we did 2 hours with a pro boxing coach and as I'm also a boxer I kicked ass big time!! Lmfao! After that it was pretty much pure kicking and I got back pumps like a mofo!

I'm feeling good, everyone has complimented my fitness, speed and flexibility. Which has improved a lot recently. Looks like I'm in with a good chance of being the fastest guy in my division :)
 
90 mins kickboxing today. I did 7 rounds on the trot :evil:

I'm down to 104kg (228lbs) bf is up to 11.4 :( but looks aren't gonna win me this thing more's the pity.

Tomorrow it's running, skipping and more fukin stationary bike!!!

I'm down to 102.5kg (225.5lbs) bf is staying under 12 @ 11.8% but I'm faster and my stamina is up so all good there :) had a really good sparring session last night used my "crazy eyes" tactic ;) - I fix em with a wild stare and make out like I'm about to launch a massive attack but really I'm just getting my breathe back!

So I'm getting fitter and faster. My stamina is up nicely thanks to all the muscle I lost no longer demanding energy and oxygen. :( (I'll get it back after!)

I'm on my way home from sparring right now. Had a good session, worked as hard as I could and gave my instructor a run for his money with loads of "crazy eyes" and plenty of whirlwind action!! :D

Now my back is killing me!! Serious pumps goin on, I tiger balm on it and I'm goin for a bath followed by stretching when I get home.
 
Guys I want you all to know I couldn't have got where I am if it weren't for bodybuilding, you gush' support and finding EF. I was so out of shape last year I was gettin my ass handed to me by novices. I so fit doing the 90 contest I managed to win the British champs and now I'm about to realise a lifetime dream of mine. To represent my country and fight abroad :D

My stamina is the best it's been for a while bro :D my hips are takin a pounding from all the sparring so I'm having to spend extra time stretching. Getti plenty of ab work in too.

Well I'm just chillin today, spending the day with my girl, I've got to leave for the airport at 0300 on wednesday morning. I'm gonna have a relaxing couple of days and just chill, forget I'm even competing so as not to get my nerves up.

LG you are so right. But we're bodybuilders we don't quit when shit gets tough. We buckle down and get tougher. I fought on one leg, my pride and never quit BBing mentality wouldn't let me just give up. I lost my fights but I still killed shit and gave 100% of what I had.

Bodybuilding gave me the physicality necessary to compete in these world champs it also helped with the never give up attitude which earned me so much respect today from fighters and judges from around the world. I owe thanks to everyone on EF who ever helped me from Stevesmi and Zed through to Donna and LetGrow and everyone in between. I couldn't have gotten this far without you guys and with your support I'm gonna come back stronger and better than ever!!!!!!
