cleans

when performing these, do you guys include the front squat like this guy in this pic:

when I do them, I pull the weight up to my shoulders. just curious if I should include the front squat portion to my cleans...
 
I havent done Cleans in a while, but when i use to play football we did them all the time and I never did that squat, we were just never taught that way.
 
I believe the regular clean is done with the squat, as you pull the bar you squat under. Without the full squat or with just a quarter squat I believe it is called a power clean.
 
Well when I performed cleans this past year in HS meets I was always tought to drop under the bar.

You don't have to go through that WHOLE front squat if it's not neccessary as long as u pull yourself under tha bar.

What a coincidence, I was just at that site checking out how to do cleans. I want to start incorporating them in my routine as well. Right now I'm not doing the squat, and brining the weight right up to my shoulders. I guess when you start going heavy, the squat will help. Right now I'm just training light, and trying to get the correct form down.

By the way, I think that is a girl in the clip, not a guy. Not bad for a chick.
