The fact that if you walk down the street and smoke weed it is a crime is enough to discredit havoc's argument.

that is one negative thing.

now.. should that be illegal is another thing.

maybe if i had seen clever truth commercials or someone would have told me tobacco was whacko when i was a teen... i wouldn't be going to get zyban in about 5 mins.

Govt funded lies, all garbage, try again, those are the same arguements I have heard since 1st grade.
All of can be discredited by using filtered smoking devices and ingestion. Next!

I'm a big fan of weed, so I'm not trying to get on your case or anything. But is it not a fact that if anything is burned it becomes carcinogenic when inhaled? I'm pretty sure no filters or bongs can prevent cancer as long as burning smoke is still being inhaled.

How does marijuana affect the lungs?
Scientists believe that marijuana can be especially harmful to the lungs because users often inhale the unfiltered smoke deeply and hold it in their lungs as long as possible. Therefore, the smoke is in contact with lung tissues for long periods of time, which irritates the lungs and damages the way they work. Marijuana smoke contains some of the same ingredients in tobacco smoke that can cause emphysema and cancer. In addition, many marijuana users also smoke cigarettes; the combined effects of smoking these two substances creates an increased health risk.

Can marijuana cause cancer?
Marijuana smoke has been found to contain more cancer-causing agents than is found in tobacco smoke. Examination of human lung tissue that had been exposed to marijuana smoke over a long period of time in a laboratory showed cellular changes called metaplasia that are considered precancerous. In laboratory test, the tars from marijuana smoke have produced tumors when applied to animal skin. These studies suggest that it is likely that marijuana may cause cancer if used for a number of years.

How does marijuana affect the heart?
Marijuana use increases the heart rate as much as 50 percent, depending on the amount of THC. It can cause chest pain in people who have a poor blood supply to the heart - and it produces these effects more rapidly than tobacco smoke does.

MARRIJUANA MYTHS

EXPOSING MARIJUANA MYTHS

"The 31 August 1990 issue of the magazine Science notes that
of the over 800 volatile chemicals present in roasted COFFEE, only 21 have actually been
tested on animals and 16 of these cause cancer in rodents. Yet, coffee remains legal and
is generally considered fairly safe."

We are getting WAY off base.....

I am not saying that they are undisputed facts, but there is no evidence suggesting they are 100% untrue.

Don't get me wrong, I will partake once in a while, but I'm not going to lie to myself and tell myself that it's all good.
What I mean by that is, no research has of yet been able to tell you the whole truth. Whether it is for or against weed, all of it is biased. So I would not be so quick and adamant about saying that marijuana is not bad for you that's all.

Friends who smoke are one thing but I think twice before dating someone who smokes because one, they smell like smoke, two, what if I fall in love with someone who ends up getting emphsema or lung cancer?

(I also don't snort coke or eat X or use IP's stuff)

If i would do coke or E it would be maybe once a month. If i used IP products it would be maybe 3 times a year but if i smoked it would be a daily even hourly addiction.

Some people don't like smokers breath or what their clothes smell like after a smoke and last i knew, coke, e and ip products don't make you smell! That's about what most people complain about. People won't say "Oh my god i don't want to talk to that guy because he is a cancer risk" they'll say they dont want to talk to him because he stinks!

Sorry :D

I would never refuse to hang out with a smoker (i used to be one) but i can see how somone would rather snort coke and eat x then smoke. With coke and x you you get more than just and addictive head rush/buzz. Psychoactive drugs are far supirior to tobbaco, effect wise anyway.

If your reffering to Marijuana there is no proof that it casue lung cancer, even when abused, which i dont think it should be. I smoke literaly a pinch of pot a day on and off since i was 13 with no ill effect. I know 80 year old who have smoked pot their whole life and are completley healthy. I know of NOONE who has gotten cancer from marijuana (i know ALOT of pot smokers). Sorry for going off topic again but i hate all the myths about the safest drug known to man. Read my links.
