Cardio or weights or both..

Thank you guys soooo much.

Well today I trained chest and tris 3x8 (time being the reason) and then did 30 minutes cardio
warm up for 5 ran at 4.5 for a minute and then walked at 4.0 for a minute. By no means was it a HIIT, but I think I will do steady cardio 3x a week and HIIT 3x a week.

This morning I got up and so did the girls  so I ate 3 egg whites and some cranberries, and then I had to wait until my boy went to school so I had a protein shake and soy milk cause it was fast and easy. Then I did weights and then cardio.

Now I am going to eat a pbutter sandwich with whole wheat bread??? good choice?

thanks again everyone

Eh....pwo I don't think that'll hurt ya' much....BUT......ideally pwo - simple carb and protein.

Fat is not the best choice post-WO. Fat is not an easily accessable energy source, and you want to replenish your muscles as quick as possible.

I am not a fan of doing weights and cardio in the same gym session. I prefer doing cardio and weights separately.

Why so much cardio? I love cardio, but even that is more than I am doing to lose fat .....

Yeah rule of thumb is to keep fats and carbs seperate as much as possible. Mixing basically makes it easier to store the fats. So have something super sweet and enjoy but keep it fat free PWO.

Its that the fat delays the carbs hitting the bloodstream - in a PWO scenario - thats not optimal

Thanks :) Ok now why the 'fat' and not a carb pre workout ?
(yes im playing Q & A)

Bodyfat cannot be burned in the presence of elevated insulin levels

^^Biochemical factoid.

So - in a fat loss scenario - you want to keep sugar blood levels as low as possible

so... you guys are saying the pbutter and whole wheat wasn't the best choice? Toooo much technical, break it down for me please LOL.

I think I got it, but does the fat in peanut butter raise your insulin levels?

Yeah it does slow down carb digestion but also increases the propensity for fat storage.

this is the thing:

2 times you do NOT want fat:

1 - first meal
2 - pwo

why??

you want to get nutrients(carbs) into the system as quickly as possible.....

Fat slows that down......

Now - concerning pbuter.....backin the day - I did an experiment.....I held some pbutter in my mouth for 60 seconds and did a blood sugar reading....

SImple holding the pbutter bumped blood sugar levels.......thats a story for another day - had nothing to do with your example

NO FAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER A WORKOUT
