cardio in the morning

hello to all
I have a question
If I do cardio in the morning..on empty stomach..for 10 minutes..I could lose fat without lossing muscle? And if I lose musle as well...please tell me what should I do for losing only fat without losing muscle?

Though I think fasted cardio is great for those who are obese (i.e. very heavy), I still prefer to have consumed protein + BCAA's prior to anything in the morning. This is an age long debate of depleting your glycogen to use fat as energy compared to staying anabolic after a long fast (sleeping).

I really think you should have some protein, you need to keep your muscles full of fuel at all times.

How about getting 1 banana 50 mins before doing at least 20 mins of hiit ? and getting protein, carbs, fat straight after ?

This question has popped up more times than I can count. Heres my advice, try it. See how it works for your body. For myself, I didn't like it and won't advise it unless your really overweight. Your body gives lots of clues to whats going on, just listen.

Type of cardio is another thing to take into consideration. You must realize that something like HIIT has as high an anerobic component as it does aerobic.

You would not do a weight workout on an empty stomach, would you?

It really makes me smile, the same folks who advocate a HIIT workout first thing in the morning because it burns so much fat are the same ones when trying to gain muscle, first thing in the morning if they do not have some fast acting protein within 2.7 minutes of waking up because they are in such a catabolic state or they will lose muscle.

But at the same time are willing to do some intense cardio regimine in the same state when wanting to lose fat. Think about it. :)

Doesn't a banana have amino acids ?

Not sure what part you don't understand? It is ironic, when a guy is bulking, trying to add muscle, he will worry to death about being in a catabolic state first thing in the morning, and have to have some kind of immediate fast acting protein to get out of this muscle wasting state.

Now, take the same guy, when it comes to losing fat, will turn that completely around and while in that same catbolic state, prolong it even more with some intense HIIT cardio.

If you are catabolic and losing muscle in scenario A, are you not in this same category in scenario B?(and then prolonging it by doing intense training?)
