Carbs and Bulking

Whenever I talk to guys about what there carbohydrate intake is when they are on a bulk I always get mixed responses. Some tell me they eat tons of carbs and it really helps because they are cram full of calories but some say they eat more protein and cut back on the carbs drastically. Can someone explain to me the benefits of each method and which is more widely accepted? Thank you!

My view:

Carbs= great in the morning/daytime/before workout/post workout
Load up on carbs in the daytime, especially in the AM.

They should be avoided late evening cus your body probably wont burn them for energy unless your doing a late night cardio/weight training session.

Some people's body's can metabolize nutrients FAR better than others.

Some people prefer to get HUGE and bloated on a bulk.

Some people prefer to stay lean and bulk with calories above maintenance.

See where I'm going with this? :) Depends on you and your goals man.

...The ONLY way you'll know which is better for YOU is by trial and error :coffee:

agree with all the above.....

in my experience, my body responds best with loads of carbs first thing in the morning (over 100g).....then about 70g pre workout and about 100g post workout (in the evening). on workout days, the remaining 200g or so is spread out with my protein to help spare the protein from being used as "energy"

on nonworkout days, my carbs usually don't go over 250g.....in which i increase my healthy fats to get my cals.....

I am one of those people who started out skinny. I used to eat a ton of carbs all the time but as my physique has developed I prefer to limit carb intake and put on quality muscle mass year round.

I always eat clean and carb cycle. 300g's is about as high as I go and I rarely drop below 75 unless I am needing to drop some fat fast.

Experiment and find out what works for you. Remember your choice of carbs is as important as the amount you take in.
