Can someone tell me why the price of protein has gone up 60%?

I've heard several reasons. Drought in certain areas which caused increased milk prices in general, which in turn impacts Casein and Whey prices. Also I've heard increasing gas prices have an effect (I don't really but that one). Plus you have to wonder if a certain % of the hike might companies capitalizing on the opportunity? Supply & demand?

Hmmm. I'm interested to hear more opinions.
Milk price is high because of high price of feed (corn).
Corn prices are high because of high demand of ethanol for gasoline.

Also consider the fact: US dollar has lost more than 30% value against other currencies. Canadian dollar has higher value than US dollar for the first time in a century!!! Dollar just buys less. We are lucky we don't have high inflation.

Why not? The processing plant has to truck the milk from the farm and then truck the bottled milk from the plant to where ever, so THEIR costs have increased.

The farmer needs fuel for farm equipment, and is facing increased costs in terms of electricity (a dairy farm uses a LOT of electricity) all that contributes to increased costs to raise the animals and store the milk.

calve how many protein shakes do you bottle for the day?
for some reason i lol'ed at the thought of you bottling protein shakes via a production line
i usually scoop a bunch of protein in a freezer bag and take that with me
less bulk

2 or 3. reason i do it because i put oats and PB in my shakes to basically make a decent MRP, and sometimes a banana in there. very time consuming to clean and use the blender and take out all the ingredients 2-3 times a day.

so i just spend 15-20 minutes knocking it out in the morning so i have shakes in my office or for whatever i'm doing.

trying to become an organized/efficient bodybuilder and have all the shit have a minimal impact on the rest of my life. hate all the time i spend prepping and shit

when i buy more containers (i keep forgetting) i'll probably do it for two days worth. shakes taste fine for at least 36-48 hours if in the fridge

i've tried doing it like that, bottling everything at once
but the oats/fruit i use always sinks to the bottom and gets all gunky and nasty

I think the prices between the high quality proteins and the low quality are converging. I use to pay sky high prices for the top quality stuff and the low quality (ON) was dirt cheap. Now they are much closer.

Also, DO NOT BUY PROTEIN with Vitamins added, that is where the cost is.

get a better blender....it'll chop up the oats really fine and they won't settle. I spent like 45 bucks on a good blender and it made all the difference compared to the cheap one i had.
i mean, even with a really good blender it still kinda does but that you shake it up before you drink it and it separates again.
