OK guys, I've tried coming up with all types of workouts for myself for the past 2 months tried each one for bout 2 weeks at the end i've tried maxing out and i'm stil at the same max. WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG. I'VE REACHED A PLATEAU . The last workout I tried going with wasn't even mines it was my powerlifting coaches and i got ragged on it for there being soo much shit that were PL excercises but not how the reps should be. So I'm starting something new on monday but i'm not sure whether I wanna try Westside or stick with my squats and benches everything for 5 sets of 5 reps. If I do westside someone explain too me how that's done i've tried looking for that shit and can't find it all i here is "Westside is the shit, glad i found it" well what is it???. And if i do the 5*5 what % of my max should i do all 5 reps with or should all my sets and reps be the same weight. My max bench is 225, squat 275, cleans(finally up today) I did 185(twice)dunno how I did but hey i got pissed and that son of a bitch came up. Thanx guys appreciate it. Also is hitting the tri's at least one workout for 3 sets of 8 on Mon, Wed, Fri too much. Should I just stick with Mon and Fri.

One thing is that you should not expect to have your lifts all shoot up after only 2 weeks. A powerlifting cycle should run about 6-12 weeks and progressively go up. I find out what my pre-cycle max is before I start it and then I don't find out what my max is until the end of the cycle or the meet I am lifting in. If you go in the gym maxing out all the time you really don't set your self up for building strength. You are actually setting yourself up for mental blocks. There are tons of training cycles out there just keep looking until you find one that works for you. Lots of powerlifters are using Westside methods, but many don't. There is no sure fire magic routine that works for everybody. The keys are to train smart, stay consistent, EAT, don't over train, and stay open to new ideas, but take everything with a grain of salt. Great lifters are not necessarily great coaches and great coaches are not necessarily great lifters.

In my opinion you should only hit triceps 2 times per week unless you are doing low intensity work. Your body needs time to repair even if you don't feel sore. Overtraining is the biggest mistake of young lifters. I know it sucks, but sometimes less is better. I suggest you read as many magazines and articles about POWERLIFTING as possible. Stay away from the bodybuilding books and mags. They are CRAP when it comes to powerlifting. After you get a general idea of what powerlifting cycles are like you can experiment. I wish I could help more, but without getting in the gym with you it is tough. Good luck

Jay man thanx for helpin alot i've got two new ideas i've came up with for workouts based upon some PL workouts i saw posted somewhere else i revised it upon too how many days i can lift. I feel that i have reached plenty mental blocks but i'ma stick for now with my coaches workout at least til week4 when we max out he has this thing where he kicks u outta the weight room blind folds u puts on what he thinks u can do gets u under the bench if u do it easy he bumps up the weight. he believes in mental blocks alot too that's why he only maxes out every 4 weeks but i was stupid and decided too do it too show off and couldn't. Well i'll post those two new workouts later on tonight if u get this before and i'll prob just email u wit it soo u can see it in case if i messed up on here. thanx again.

Can anyone else help a bro out.

Endpoint i've tried searchin most of those posts and sites and the parts i havn't gotten too my bro has and he like me hasn't found nethin too really help us out.

all the info is in there bro.........everything......it spells out all of the westside barbell training routine.......you will have a few small questions after reading.....but those articles are pretty indepth.

the first one lays out a nine week program and rep scheme......what more could you want?

the second one tells you how to set up westside and lays out what order to do things....and what recomended reps/sets to use.....so you can lay out your own.

the third is also a program that has been set out.

you just have to read them.

i recomend the second article

its all there.

run through some ideas with your coach, and dirrect him to the online information, if he has any concerns get him in contact with dave tate at http://www.elitefts.com/
he might pick up some ideas.
