Cali's Summer Log

Time for me to put up or shut up! :)

I`m finally in a place mentally and emotionally where I think I can get back on a program and start training again. This last year has been hell as many of you know and God, what a ride! I`ve been on a journey of self discovery in the last few months and it`s now time to get back on the fitness wagon and get moving. I haven`t been this out of shape in several years!!

As some motivation, I have a show date which is 21 weeks away. Honestly, I`m thinking it`s not enough time but I`m going to use it as a driver. My main goal is to get my health and conditioning back. I`m starting to feel old!

I`ll be using the Max OT training program mainly because it allows me to lift heavy and it works for me time wise and I just like it.

Calorie targets are 2300 per day with a 50 - 30 - 20 split p-c-f.

Today is day 1! More details to come!

Good for you, Cali!!! For me, getting started again was, in fact, the hardest part.
I picked out a PL meet (my first ever) and have been training my ass off for it because it's a driver. So, while you may not be where you want to be as your end goal in time for your show, you're brave for having picked one anyway and just getting back to it, so good for you!
I look forward to watching your progress.
Keep us posted.

Good for you! I am looking forward to watching you.

I feel like its been so long since we've seen a chick log with calories above 1200 lol...it's refreshing!

You know I'm in my friend. Good luck to you!

God my first week in and I suck at log keeping! So, I'll give you a quick summary.

I hit my workout target minus one cardio session. My diet has been about 80%. I've hit my target of 2300 calories, although some of them have been dirty calories. I figured out I could eat 6 chocolate chip cookies last night and stay within target. Not quite what I had on the plan though! LOL

Overall, I'm down .8 lbs. Which isn't great but I'm ok with it. If I dropped most of my carbs, I'd be down about 5 lbs but it's all water weight and quickly comes back.

And, I'll be honest....I'm really feeling my age. It's been such a stressful week and getting back into routine...I'm tired and sore and feel like I'm 100. Remember this all you younger ladies! For me, it took to about 40.5 years old. I remember thinking, if I just stay in shape....blah blah blah...let it go for a few months and it bites you in the ass!!

All in good fun right?!? Stay with me! I'm a slow starter but a really strong finisher. Or so I keep telling myself! :)

Oh and I have to add...in case you're thinking those are crappy results....within another week or 2, my body will start performing better and all of sudden 2300 is not going to feel like much food at all AND the weight loss will pick up. It's a fascinating concept I always preach about and wanted to do a real live demonstration. I'll post up my meal plan later tonight or tomorrow.

My goal is to get to where my body is back functioning like a well oiled machine. I'd love to be one of those people who has conditioned themselves so well that they can eat at that level and only gain 5-10 lbs post stage weight. The reality is it takes time to do that. Even though I'd love to hit the stage in October, I know I won't be ready. I have to repair some of the damage I've done in the last couple of years and I don't have the commitment to jump into prep mode. I have too much on my plate right now.

I did exactly what so many women who post here have done....dieted super hard, gained a bunch back, overtrained, under ate, started something, binged, stopped, started again, researched thyroid conditions, gone for blood work, convinced myself I had some mystery body issue...and so on. I had none of that. I had poor consistency, poor nutrition and wanted instant results. It's not a quick fix and we can all watch as I try one more time to fix it.

Whew!

Does typing count for cardio?!? LOL

I am back on the horse! Again! Somebody shot my last horse! lol

Some of you will remember my bad break up/ douche bag diet. It's been just over a year. The man is certifiable and has given me sooo much grief. Who would have thought it would take me this long to put myself back together. I am usually not someone to start and stop so many times but I finally had to just recognize I needed some more time to heal and even allow my body to heal. I've been living in fight or flight mode for almost two years. I'm sure someone out there can relate!

With some time and a whole lot of personal work, I am currently on day 4 of....of something....of not eating like complete crap and actually hit the gym last night. I did a chest workout and day one of the Couch to 5k training program. I'm inspired by Ender (a member here) to start running. or some version of running.

The one positive thing I've accomplished is that I gave up diet coke and pop altogether. I was addicted and have been drinking stupid amounts for at least 20 years. I'm on week 15 of no pop. I've gained about 10 lbs though...apparently I used pop in place of food when stressed, anxious etc.

So...here we go again! :)

Looking forward to following your progress.
I've been into running for a long time, and over time...you'll grow to view it as therapy. lol (and not just ''cardio'') I find it pretty 'freeing.'
The couch to 5k programs are really good!

I'll be lurking, if that's ok. :) Hope you have a great weekend!

I'm one week in to a 6 week mini cut. I started last Monday. I want to train with one of my mentors and am FINALLY mentally ready to get back into it more seriously but I need to prove to myself that I can string together a few weeks of being consistent.

So far, it wasn't too bad. I made it to the gym for the target of 4 times, this week. I'm doing a 4 day split and then doing the couch to 5k training. It's 30 mins cardio on the treadmill and has a cool app that tells you when to walk and when to run. The idea is training up to being able to run 5k.

I'm still struggling with the eating and I definitely have to pre cook things. I kept the calorie range in the 2300 - 2500 (thank you night out at the patio lol).

It's really easy to fall back into old patterns and not so easy to change them up.
