Yeah pink ribbons and shit won't cure a disease. But like said above..more money for better research and education to save lives is always a worthy cause.
My mom had breast cancer 8 years ago and thought it was beat. Yearly scans showed no signs of cancer. We found out last month it has returned and has metastasized to her bones. She was on prempro for years after a hysterectomy, her doctors told her it was safe and wouldn't cause cancer. The pharm reps told her doctors it was safe. Just a week or two ago there was an article saying those who take a combined HRT are at a greater risk of dying from breast cancer. There is a lot of lying going on when trying to get a new drug approved, companies can get rid of studies they don't like and just submit the good ones to the FDA. There are similar stories with antipsychotic drugs too.
Whats done is done, but it doesn't have to happen in the future. and I know big pharm will not change. But you certainly feel cheated when a company lies to make money and someone you love is dying because they made a decision based on a lie.
