binge eating survival mechanism

man, i HATE when i'm wanting to lose fat and i go out of control and do binge eating. i just did it today. not too bad, but i erased the defecit i had for today. it usually happens to me after a few weeks when i'm on a roll. i think maybe i should up my calories a bit. i'm under 7% body fat and i'm trying to get to around 5%. the last 5 pounds or so ARE SO FUCKING HARD TO LOSE!!!!!

anyway, i found this article. i'm anti-religious and a big believer in evolution. i believe my binge eating is a survival mechanism. this article explains a lot about how the body reacts when you try to lose fat. it makes total sense to me.

Why do you want to be 5%? Honest question.........are you competeing? If not, I suggest forgetting it........when I get that low, it's probably the most uncomfotable state of well-being I can truly fathom........I twitch uncontrollably, can't eat a damn thing, no energy, etc.........it's not worth it bro.

I know what you mean. My way around this problem is to never cheat and eat the same thing everyday. I know it sounds extreme but there are more important things than eating good tasting food. You would be amazed at the results you can achieve if you can get past the love of food. Give it a try.

If I don't buy junk food, then I don't eat junk food. It is that simple. I am far too busy to run to the grocery store to get a bucket of ice cream or some other indulgence.
Also, I drink two gallons or more of water everyday. That keeps me feeling full and the thought of junk food or any food for that matter sounds like torture. I hate feeling so stuffed.
Hope this helps!!!

I did the same thing - cleared out the whole house of junk. I also drink diet A&W root beer - highly carbonated so 1 can will fill you up.

Sunday is my cheat day. I don't go completely nuts but I indulge a bit. I also read somewhere it can help you loose weight by throwing your body a kind of diet curve ball. Supposedly your body adapts by increasing your metabolism temporarly. I don't have anything to reference right now but I think I may have read it in Muscle & Fitness. It also keeps you from going nuts from deprevation! You may want to give it a try if you're not already.

I think there is truth to that myself. After going three weeks on a very strict, low-carb diet, I lost control on 4th of July weekend and spent the better part of two or three days that weekend being a pig. I thought I had set myself about a month back or so, but now 10 days later I'm looking leaner than I was going into that weekend, and I've only done 4 cardio sessions in that time! Also, the extra carbs I ate during that weekend fueled my weight sessions tremendously for a few days afterwards, too. Now if I could get my "carb-up" days under control, I'd really make some sick progress lol.
