Im startin up gymnastics again in the next few weeks.
You said you were in gymnastics in high school? How did you balance the weight training with your gym training? how did the two effect each other?
Any advice on how i could work the two together?

you get a buttload of bodyweight work obviously. usually, we didnt do heavy work inseason, as with many other sports. we did alot of specifics though. presses overhead, ab work, dips, pushups. so basically you can train your tris, chest, shoulders, back etc. but keep in mind, if you are going heavy (2-6 reps) you are gonna be hurting in practice and it could hinder your recovery time. i would say go to more of the 8-12 scheme so your endurance will build. whatever you really want to train hard/heavy, save it for when you will have some days off to recover. you know your shoulders and legs will be necessary for alot, so best not to overly fatigue them or be very proactive in active recovery. the good thing about starting back up, is your strength endurance will grow exponentially due to the repeated presses/lockouts you will be doing.
