"Big Fat Bastards" article says eat fat and not carbs on slin, exactly opposite of...

I have to disagree with you on the protein for fuel being an easy thing. That's a MAJOR shift in metabolic mechanisms and only happens after glucose, glucogen and fat are used up. It also kicks off cortisol to be released to make that happen which is VERY catabolic.

Someone tell me that I'm talking out my ass here and tell me why.

whey is different and is more insulinogenic by far than other proteins w/o a shift to protein metabolism for fuel. or maybe my memory is talking out its ass?????

To me this entire discussion is irrelevant since you'd have to be a little crazy to try this shit anyway

I can't answer that because I have absolutely no information quantifying the insulinogenic differences of whey compared to other types of proteins. But if that were the case then how is it that a low carb, high protein diet (whey or otherwise) forces your body to turn to fat for fuel, thus getting lean. If it used the protein (whey) for fuel it would never burn the fat.

Frackal I definitely agree with you, however, if you have not already read the entire article, it basically says that insulin is THE difference between muscle freaks and not. That's pretty motivational, especially to a newcomer. Considering that, and again, the strong possibility of death if done incorrectly, I think it's something that I hope will be cleared up.

I mean that's posted for all to read and goes against everything I've read and heard.

If it works, fine, but come on, it's not a little different or even a lot different it's completely opposite.

I can't see how this method would be anymore beneficial than traditional slin use. Sure you are eating mass protein, but most of it is being used for fuel. It makes no sense to me at all.

yep if you are gonna use the protein for fuel why not just take the correct amount of carbs and use that for energy.. why make your body run inefficiently like he states?

once you figure out what works for you you can easily keep fat gain minimal or nonexistent using slin if you keep your dosages sane

edit but i do like megadosing protein while cutting cals which im not even sure if he is referring too or not but i get great results while doing that and keeping fat and carbs LOW

This kind of shit drives me crazy. Someone is going to read this theory, inject 20iu's of humalog and drink no carb protein drinks until they pass out from hypoglycemia.
Anyone who has actually used significant doses of insulin knows....or found out the hard way.....that you better have your carbs right.
Insulin.........not a good choice for experimenting with new theories.
