Bicep Dumbbel Curls

What things do you pay attention to or concentrate on when you are curling a dumbbell for a bicep workout?

*Do you have to make sure your upper arm doesn't move at all?
*How do you know when a weight is too much?
*Do you always hold at the top and squeeze for a contraction?
*Is the movement down slow or the same as up?
*Is the movement all the way down from your side or do you stop half way?

Thanks,

*Yes - well, sort of. Your elbow will come forward slightly at the top of the lift. But that should be about it. The whole point is to keep your upper arm as still as possible to avoid swinging.
*If you can't do six reps with perfect form, it's too much.
*Yes - you don't have to hold it up there long, just enough to squeeze the bi.
*The downward movement doesn't necessarily have to be slow (unless you're doing slow negatives as part of your workout), but it always has to be controlled. In other words, don't ever let the db just fall to your side.
*Some of the bros out there will hesitate in the middle of a lift. I forget the term for it. If you're new to lifting, don't worry about that, keep the movement steady and controlled.
