bfold (about WSM)

Never said that they had to be physically appealing...they just had to look good for the camera...and TV.

It was invitation only and NOT based on competition or qualification merit. The women are currently that way. There are a few women who could possibly win or make a large dent in the competition if they looked pretty enough to be invited...

i remember seeing a video of hoeberl holding on to the backs of two jaguars(cars)...one in each hand. each car floored it, and he held them both for i believe 16 seconds. i've also seen some more videos, but i cant remember what they were of. unbelievable

Gotcha.

BTW, what are your thoughts on Geoff Capes? Any inside knowledge you can share with us since you are big on the strongman scene? He was always my favorite competitor, I remember watching the first WSM competitions back when I was in high school and being in awe of the guy-- because he didn't look like much but when it came time to perform Capes kicked ass.
What do you think about the guy? I ask this because it isn't ever discussed, he is an unpopular guy. Ahola, Magnusson(s), Kaz, etc. get all the talk. Just want to know what a real strongman thinks of the guy since I am somewaht of a fan of his. Guys like Ab Wolders always impressed me, too, back then-- wasn't he supposed to be like the fastest strongman or something? Maybe a different thread should be created for this discussion.

Update:
Here are a couple of URLS on capes:

Jeremys--

About your back:

If you are really serious about getting back to squatting after a spinal/disc related injury, GET A REVERSE HYPER! The standard model is sufficient unless you squat above 600lbs and is worth its weight in gold. Sell your tv, box-spring, mattress, computer, etc. if you have to get the money to buy the thing. It is unbelievably effective for correcting disc fuckups.

About to walk out the door for the weekend...will be back with you on Sunday night...

latinus, i'm only 15. i cant buy anything like that. i have bands coming in early next week. i hope i can rig something up just with bands.

i was thinking i could loop one end of a band around a couch leg and then leaning on something with my hands, i could keep my leg straight and raise it back behind me until i get a good enough stretch and then do a couple sets with each leg. what do you guys think?

update for anybody that cares: the major pain is very seldom now, but whenever i'm sitting, i can feel a nerve throbbing really bad sometimes

Rig it up so you can somehow do them off of the bed of a truck, the end of a table, etc. with your bands or chain some weight to your legs and go from there. Try to mimick them. I don't know about your financial situation, but having a reverse hyper should be a number one priority if moving your squat up/correcting your lower back is a concern.

i'll try to figure something out...thanks for the ideas

i'll let ya know how it goes once i get my bands early this next week. any idea on what kind to use for reverse hypers? i ordered a pair of minis and a pair of average bands
