**before/after Pics On Body 4 Life Challenge**

Re: Body For Life

Hi there! I am new to the discussion board but I have enjoyed reading the posts. I am just a begginer and I had just purchased the Body For Life book. After overwelming myself with fitness books and mags , I thought maybe this book would be the answer. Is everyone saying you can get the results shown in before and after photos but not in 12 weeks and not unless you add more supplements than the book reccomends ? I am having a really hard time getting myself motivated to do anything except for one dance class I signed up for last month . So now I really am disappointed , wondering if I wasted my money and hopes on buying this book. Also, I am not sure I could do the six meals a day .... how does anyone fit that in as far as time and being that hungry? I hope my first post doesnt sound too ridiculous and maybe someone can help or advise me? Thanks :-) Isis

Isis - welcome to the board! If you want to change your body you have definitely come to the right place. Body for Life gives alot of good beginner info and is a great place to start. It got me on the path that I am on now but you will outgrow it at some point. The weight portion of the book will get you started. I would change the cardio to 45 min at min to moderate intensity and work up to 60 min 3-4 times a week if your body weight is high or your joints aren't used to alot of pounding, that 20 min high intensity thing that he recommends gave me knee problems that will haunt me until I have surgery. The food is absolutely critical - diet is 90% of success, the six meals will get your metabolism moving and make sure you are eating the types of foods that he recommends. You may gain a bit of weight the first month while your body makes the transition but it will come off faster in the long run. You will feel stuffed for quite awhile but eventually you will be starving every 2-3 hours. On this board you will hear the word "supplements" used alot and it is kind of confusing in the beginning. Sometimes we are referring to things like ECA, multi vitamins and protein powders and sometimes we are talking about anabolic steroids, clen etc. You won't need to worry about the latter for quite awhile, just concentrate on good food, good training and a multi vitamin and maybe some protein shakes to begin with and you will see a great deal of progress.

Temple,
Hi and thank you for the welcome, advice and encourgament. I will defintely go back to the book and also use the suggestions you posted. What would be a good protein powder to get that would be inexpensive and easily obtainable? Right now, my height is 5'9 weight is 156 < I nearly died yesterday when that number came up> bodyfat is 24.8% I had a body composition test done at work and it said ideal weight for me is 129- 142, so I am 15% above. Three years ago I was 19 % and I was 135 ... so thats what happens when you don't keep working at it . I really didnt know what I was doing 3 years ago ...actually I think I was too thin and I wasnt eating enough for the amount of wotking out I was doing. Anyway I am open to any advice or encouragment as none of my coworkers or people I know offline are interested in working out . Thanks again :-) Isis

Hey TN you look great. Your hard work and determination have certainly paid off. Which part of Tn you from? West middle or east?

I'm 5'4" and have been up to 147 lbs but was at 18-20% so I looked OK. I have cut back to 140 lbs now and 16%. I am classed as being in the "overweight" section of the height/weight charts you see at the Drs. I look great, I do wear a size UK 12-14 which I think is a US 8 but I have no cellulite and look good in hotpants/crop top.
Muscle can weigh an awful lot and bbers tend to have increased hydration levels too.

Tnehey is right about it taking more than 12 weeks. It takes about that long for your body to start getting used to the movements, never mind making major changes.

Has anyone seen the latest Taraxatone ads? They are claiming that the models went from bloated gut to ripped six pack in just 3 days! Beats BFL hands down.

PANTS~ here is what I can tell you .... there were 6 ppl at my gym who completed the BFL program the last 12 weeks ago, and there were 2 of which were women and the y had the before & after pics up in the gym to look at.
the one lady gave me so much motivation.... those models... is what you called them are for real, w/out the use of AS. Yes, the can use supps like Glutamine, which i take along with a vitamin & ECA stack but other than that you need nothing else but to follow the program exactly as it is in the book.

I have been on this for almost 4 weeks now & have made some gains with lowering my body fat & weight, it all depends on how determined your client is about this.

I was the biggest yo-yo dieter there was made until I finally started to EAT 6 meals a day along with cardio & weights.... so this does work, (you stay on it longer for better results) and for those that put down Bill Phillips can do so for whatever reasons but honestly this is the BEST way to diet if you have been a yo-yoer in the past!
there is my .02

Tell you client good luck! :D

Dlady27,
I was glad to read your post about the succeess of BFL. What is glutamine and what is its purpose ? If I am just just begging the program would I use it? Also, can you use any protein powder and still get results or does it have to be what they reccomend in the book, Thank you Fennac for your helpful suggestions and support! Also how long before wanting 6 meals a day kicks in? Is 6 meals a day a must to get the results ? I am not really into food that much . Isis

You're welcome Isis! Did you check your e-mail today? I sent you a sample of my meal plan.

5 - 6 meals is gonna be necessary, but the portion size is not that large, so trust me, you'll be ready to eat when each meal time comes along. For instance, when I say "Turkey Breast", it's actually the following:

2 pounds of ground turkey breast (NOT ground turkey, has to be ground turkey BREAST) cooked with 2 cups of water and 2 packets of turkey gravy mix (gives me the flavor of gravy, but doesn't add much calories, just mainly adds sodium which I don't have to watch just yet). This makes 10 servings. When you divide it up into 10 servings, it comes out to maybe a cup per serving. With a red potato (I cut them in half if they are way larger than normal, and count the half as a full potato serving, it's enough to satisfy for a couple hours.

As your metabolism comes up, your appetite will increase. Pretty soon you'll be complaining that you're hungry all the time! :)

Give some of what you have been reading an honest try for a few weeks - I think you'll like the results. Just don't give up after one week, it will take a few weeks to start really seeing the results. It took five weeks for me to see results I believed in the first time I really got consistent, but once you do, it will snowball. And don't worry, you don't have to use steroids to lose weight. You also don't have to use them to put on size, it just speeds up the process considerably. You can put on plenty of size over time, if that is what you want. MS has a good post about that on one of these threads somewhere! (Hey MS, would you please post that info again...? Maybe on it's own thread?)

Fennec

THANK YOU ALL LAYDEEZ MUCH APPRECIATED INFO HERE.
Dlady27 & Fennec what is your protein/carb/ fat daily intake? Also how much glutamine do you use?

First of all Isis.... YOU HAVE TO EAT!!! Even if you decide to make 3 of your meals a shake or protein bar, that is fine but you have to have those 6 small meals,,,, food is what makes your body grow & burn FAT!!!

The Glutamine is to help repair muscle fibers after you have worked out.... when you lift weights you are really "tearing" your muscles. the Glutamine will help the healing process of them, so you won't hurt as much.
I got mine at the Nutrition Club store, it was $21.00 for 200grams. I take 5 grams in the AM and then 5grams at night before bed.
As for using the BLF protein shakes "NO, I went and got the EAS Simply Whey~ Vanilla flavor. Go to dpsnutrition.com to order it is only $25 on there!

Not to mention it has only 3g of carbs. in each scoop. so I get 9g of carbs from that twice a day.
Here is how my diet is: I went to a PT to design this to fit me...it all depends on what you weight now....

8AM: 1/2 pint egg whites
11AM: 1/2 cup of oatmeal or rice
2PM: small salad w/ oil & vinegar and 1 can of tuna or 6oz of Fish. (season with lemon& pepper)
4PM: protein shake or protein bar
630PM: small salad, 6oz steak or chicken, & 1/2 cup veggie
9PM: another shake or protein bar

make sure to have 1 gallon of water a day, drink between 8 to 10 oz with each meal you have.... the first 2 weeks you won't be hungry enough to eat all this, but you HAVE too!! By the 3rd week you will be hungry by the time you are suppose to eat!

The ONLY carbs I have at one time is at 11AM and that is my oats or rice.... I have no other carbs after 12 noon!! If i do crave the carbs after 4PM I will have some strawberries after dinner, but that is it!

It will take you a few times before you get this right on track but if you want it BAD enough you can do it!!! ;)
