Beef Jerky - how to make one ?

New member
I recently bought a "food dehydrator"
I plan on making my own beef jerky snacks :p , as the ones sold in stores are very expensive. ( I think it's like $7 for a few strips)

Does anyone know any good recipes ? There seems to be quite a few of them on the web, but I wouldn't know if they're tasty...

Thanks for your input
Adam

Try this....with 1/4" strips overnight in the refridgerator.

- 1/4 cup Steak Sauce

- 1/8 cup Worcestershire Sauce

- 1 tsp. Soy Sauce

- 1/4 to 3/8 cup of Red Wine

- 1/4 cup White Vinegar

- 1 tsp. Smoked Salt

- 1 1/2 tsp Black Pepper .

- 1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

- 1 tsp. Hot Sauce

- 1/2 tsp. Garlic Salt

Just make sure you want your house or apartment to smell like that for a day or more-- but it seems delicious. I have a food dehydrator that I have only used a few times with fruit-- but I always made the pieces too small. I don't trust using it now because of air quality in my apartment-- think of it this way, since that machine merely inhales air makes it hot, then pushes through your food, if the air outside is bad, then the air going through your food is bad (I mean bad like dust, mildew-damp). Just a word to the wise bro-- but you probably have good conditions.

Get the ronco food dehydrator.

Try this Nesco. There is a starter pack with a "jerky gun" it uses ground up beef. I make it all the time, it comes out great.

Also, try Turkey Jerky......

Smoked Turkey Jerky

Ingredients:
1/2 cup soy sauce (can use light soy sauce)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 pounds cooked turkey, sliced paper thin (turkey thighs and breasts are best)

Instructions
Mix marinade ingredients together in a bowl. Dip meat slices into marinade. Place dipped meat in layers in a bowl or dish. Pour remaining marinade sauce over meat. Cover tightly and let marinate in refrigerator for 6 to 12 hours. Rotate layers of meat occasionally.

Place in dehydrator until dry. While meat is drying, blot excess oil with paper towel.

home made jerky is soooo good. Try adding pureed jalepenos to the marinade, bits of it will stick to the meat after its dried and it tastes great!
