Bastard Zone Diet

WTF I've been on this thing for 2 weeks, consuming at the most 2000 calories a day (this is under maintenance) and all I have to show for it is an expanding waist line and constipation out the @$$.

Yeah man, make sure you are looking at the serving sizes and the number of servings per container. It doesn't make much sense that you could eat 2000 calories a day and still gain wait unless you are extremely sedentary and a pretty small person.

I just counted calories, i'm well within my limits. Here' the totals, and i eat 5 times a day
2 zone bars - 210 calories a day
2 cans of green beans
4-5 chicken wraps made with 2 breasts of chicken marinated in Dales and wrapped in these tortillas from la tortilla factory:
Specs on one: 3gs fat
19gs carbs - 14gs of fiber
8g's of protein.

I'm 5'11 225lbs

This constipation is killing me. I swear its the GD fiber or something. I NEVER had problems on 20g's/carbs a day when i was low carbing

Well, i should rephrase the term "gaining weight". i don't have a scale so i don't know. What i can tell you is that my 36 waist shorts are now tight along with my XL t-shirts

You say specs on one. One what? Tortilla? Each Zone bar has 210 calories. That's 420 calories right there. Are you sure that you're not miscalculating? You are definitely getting a ton of sodium too. You could be retaining water.

Yes, in one tortilla.

Basically breakfast is usually a zone bar OR a bowl of oatmeal (no butter) and 1 egg white.

Lunch is typically 2 chicken wraps/lettuce and mustard and a can of green beans. 1 chicken breast is used in both wraps. This comes out to:

70 Cals from the green beans
and
180 Cals in each wrap (so 180x2)
430 cals

Dinner is the same. (i LOVE these tortillas ;) )
430 cals

In between lunch and dinner I usually have another bar if its handy since its got a good ratio to it, so thats another 210 calories.

If I work out, I'll eat something small again but its never any more than about 300 calories.

Heck, the day I just outlined has 1300 calories in it. I know that I'm going to retain some water since I've made a switch from basically atkins to this, but it seems almost rediculous. I just think I should be adjusting to this by now. The Dales marinade has a lot of sodium in it, but thats about it.

Is not even like I'm really that hungry on this thing. Its quite satisfying. I don't get it.

The canned beans have a pretty good amount of sodium too. Have you ever calculated your basal metabolic rate? If so, what is it? I think it is entirely possible that you are not getting enough calories and your body thinks you are starving. You will kind of go into a self preservation mode and your body will store as much fat as it can. Also, maybe you should keep a log of what you eat for a few days. I know when I was losing weight for a BB show, if I didn't have a log, I would have forgot about some of the things that I ate earlier in the day when I was tabulating calories and carbs and protein and whatnots.

Well, I've thought about that but I know that I probably eat a little more than that. Like, for example, last night about an hour before bed I ate a couple slices of cheese.

I think you guys might be right with the sodium thing. I think I'm going to switch over to the Del Monte no salt added green beans and just add some vegtable seasoning to it. Theres only 35 grams of sodium in the entire can.

Sodium is the one thing I've forgotten to look at when I've been tabulating all of this.
