im trying to lose weight but i've been hearing a lot of different stuff about dieting, and now im really confused. first i was just cutting grams of fat, but now i hear i should cut carbs and fat is ok... then it was only some kinds of fat (...saturated??). i've also heard fats/carbs that come from natural foods are ok..but don't i still need to be watching them? are sugary foods bad? starch? and how does protein fit into it all? for example: peanuts are high in fat but good in protein, so should i eat them or not? if someone could just straighten this all out for me and any other important dieting attributes i might not have mentioned i would be greatfull!! i need a good idea of the basics. also, what about beverages? i drink about 8 glasses of water a day - should i cut soft drinks and kool-aid and stuff? some of them seemed high in carbs. i really have no problem with will power, i just need to know what i should get/avoid because whatever i am doing now isn't working. thanks in advance

I'm no expert, but you can check out my website if you'd like. I tried to pull together as much of the basic information I could reagrding diet, etc, that I found useful.
