Back Hurts in Morning But not At Night??

Dirty Workout

New member
I was the one with the overtrained lower back. I have been taking it easy and back definately doing better but it hurts back when I get up and for few hours after that.

Could it be the way I sleeping? Or back is just stiff from no movement for long time?

They have leg pillows for that stuff... and it could be your bed... I just found out my bed (or steel frame and foam) that I was sleeping on was contributing to some serious back trama...

I put a door under my mattress to stiffen it up and it did wonders. Your mattress may be too soft.

If I have any lower back stiffness...it is directly when I wake up in the mornings. I have had it so bad that I would have to have someone to help me out of bed in the mornings...or I would have to roll off to the floor onto all 4's then slowly stand up.

I haven't had that problem in a few weeks now...since I started playing more soccer, jogging a little, and stretching (with the jumpstretch bands) on a VERY regular basis. I feel great now...

Yes...I also sleep with a pillow between my knees and one between my ankles.

A door?

I've never thought of that..

I put a board under mine.. And it also helped!

I had one of those specially made ones from "Sharper Image" -- it was like 99 dollars... a friend bought me one once... it really worked well... I think I left it at my Ex's when I moved out.. LOL

If you're sleeping on your stomach at all, put a pillow under your hips. It helps a lot. Same tension release principle as the leg pillow.

I used a pillow underneath my feet and legs when I had back probs. just experiment with a small pillow to see what feels good to you. more than likely, it is your mattress. ever since I bought a new one, my back has been feeling so much better.

Hmm mattress might be on the soft side

ANd I sleep on stomach always so I'll try out that pillow under hips move

Good ideas so far

I sold mattress for 5 years...it sounds as though yours is shot!

Does it have a sag in it even when you are not on it? When you sit on the edge does it collpse?.. If you put a board between the matttress and boxspring and it significantly stiffenss the mattress....that is a sign your BOXSPRING is wasted..

BTW always replace the whole set ...not just the mat...as the box tends to go bad a 1/2 year or so before the mat.
