Anyone know what elevated Liver levels could mean??

Sorry...I know this isn't a body building question but it's been worrying me for the past week and I thought some of you might know something about this. About a month ago my derm had my blood tested so I could take this medication for an ongoing toenail fungus (I know Gross) I just can't get rid of. I guess this medication is pretty strong and they don't want people with kidney or liver problems taking it. Well about a month later the office calls me and says that my liver levels were high and I shouldn't take this medication...I believe the name is Lamisil. Plus, the culture they took on the nail keeps coming back negative anyway. They said I should go see my doctor. I have an appointment but haven't gone yet. OH...and I started spotting this week...1st time ever in my life. I take my BC pill like clockwork and have never experienced this before. Could this have something to do with the liver funcion?? Now I'm all stressed out. :(
Thanks Guys...Gals!

I don't know a lot about this but.........because I work in a lab I have to have a full blood workup annually. The last 2 0r 3 years my liver enzymes have been "slightly" elevated. I've been lifting heavy for the last 3 years - my doc says it's from muscle breakdown occurring pretty much non-stop and the liver de-toxing those breakdown products. Does this sound reasonable to anyone else?

Like W6 said, please post the results so we know which enzymes are elevated and how high.

Imcreased muscle mass produced by lifting weights can cause a false reading in liver fuction. There was am article on it in Jeff Everson's last mag.

E-mail me if you would like me to find it for you. I only get to this board every now and than!

This is interesting to me, personally, because about a year to a year and a half ago my blood tests showed elevated alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), and bilirubin on more than one occasion. They were never highly elevated and an abdomen ultrasound showed nothing abnormal, but the root of the problem was never found. I still wonder what brought it on.

Maybe your lab results belong to somebody else?

ie. you got somone else's results and somebody else got yours.

Have you considered using the topical cream of Lamisil instead of the orals? The topical cream has worked rather well for a relative of mine. No need to push your luck with the oral Lamisil.
