Anyone into martial arts here?

Martial Arts

I take shotakan karate and have been grappling fo a few months Also i am going to pro wrestling school next week!!:D

taken a bunch of martial arts over the years and to be honest the most effective would be regular boxing and/or Brazilian jiujitsu

Used to live and breath wrestling. Now I'm a Submission Wrestler and Do some Boxing. Look at the Stats of NHB. Well rounded fighters win. Some type of good ground game Mixed with something like Muay Thia and Of course excellent Cardio is awsome Combo. Weightlifting also helps out tremendous for strenth and power. There are Lots of Compeditive MMA people on this board and they will all tell you diff stuff. Take what works and throw out what dont.

Muay thai here .... did it for four years. Now only train on my heavybag for cardio and staying in shape.

Took Judo for several years. Went to an Ultimate Fighting tournament one time and saw that EVERY SINGLE TIME one of the contestants knew JiuJitsu, they won. JiuJitsu kicked everybody's ass all night long. Size difference did not matter. This convinced me that when you are in a REAL fight, you better know how to grapple and do close combat. Unless you knock someone out with your first punch, chances are you'll end up on the floor or grappling. For this reason I am starting JiuJitsu in 2 months.

if you are in GEORGIA, your best bet would be to head over to the NWA WILDSIDE promotion in CORNELIA and try to get in with them-they are without a doubt the BEST INDY FED GOING TODAY!

Freestyle Jujitsu

Brazilian Jiujitsu gi/no gi - Greco Roman Wrestling for throws - Freestyle Wrestling for takedowns - Muaythai(thaiboxing) for strikes. We try to be well rounded. You should be atleast IMO 40/60 grappling/striking. You have to put on the valetudo gloves and train striking/grappling. If you get into grappling dont learn just the sport style (mostly gi training used for competitions and medals) learn the valetudo (anything goes) style also so you will be ready for a street fight. :)
