Any CPAP users in here?

It seems the older I get the worse my sleep apnea gets. I'll wake up every thirty minutes at night gasping for air and it's taking its toll on my daytime energy levels. I was wondering if anybody here has had any success using one of these machines. I know they look funny but I'm married with kids and too damn tired to care about looking like a sexy bitch anymore. I want to be able to sleep and breathe at the same time again.

Yep. They work very well. You will notice a difference days after starting it.

That being said, I fucking hate wearing it.

I started with the CPAP which worked great for 3 months but my body grew tired of trying to breathe against the high pressure. At that point the machine grew ineffective and I went in for more testing. I then got the BiPAP which is 2 levels 1 for inhaling and a lower pressure for exhaling. That was about 10 years ago and I love it ! I am single 46 years old about 9% and don't care if the women digs it or not it goes on.

i've been CPAP'n it for two + years now. Started it only b/c I was snoring w/ the wife. She couldn't stand it. I never felt tired or had any sleep apnea warning signs before that. Just knew I snored. Had all the tests done, etc. And they said it was mild. I'm used to it now. It SUCKED at first. And now I know that my body is getting the fullest rest I can get. Yea it's ugly, but who sees you wearing it besides your wife, no one.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh shit...O.k. it's official I just pissed my pants!

Yes and I couldnt stand the thing. Felt like a freak. My apnea was severe. Had 45 episodes an hour so I never hit REM.

I went with the surgery and it fixed my apnea completely. Only had 1 episode when sleeping on my side afterwards.

As long as I stay on my side Im fine. Still had them on my back.

But yeah, surgery worked perfect. The Sleep Clinic was very against surgery and all they did was push that CPAP down my throat.

The nurse practitioner sounded dissappointed that the surgery worked I felt.

I still had 270 disruptions which she said was more than likely anxiety so she told me to take klonopin before bed which is the worst advice to give and a big no no.

Needless to say I never went back as they were useless and only had one agenda to push and that was CPAP.

Get the surgery bro and send me your pain meds. :)

Sleep apnea is a horror. I developed in in recent years.

Couple of things.

Water retention makes it worse, so everybody who's bulking, beware. Excess weight also makes it worse, so even if your bf is low, the body isn't meant to carry too much over 225 or so.

I found that using a decongestant (along with some Vicks so I can breath completely through my nose) and sleeping elevated on my side helped tremendously. It's a drag but you get used to it. It's better than wearing a mask and it's better than choking to death.

Funny I never noticed a thing yet I had it severe according to the charts. Never even realized. I was even taking stuff that made apnea worse like benzos, ambien, trazadone.

What kind of surgery bro?

My dad has terrible apnea and he got on the machine and his whole demeanor changed. He was nicer, more energy and hits rem sleep all the time. He hates the machine but it works nicely for him. His Jack Russell terrier would run from him when he turned it on and it took about 2 weeks before the dog would sleep on the bed.

On a side note, my little brother actually had house parties in the basement DURING THE WEEK and my dad NEVER figured it out or heard anything. I imagine you would be an easy out if someone broke in and you were single......

My Dad was on the machine. Last year he got some type of mouth piece that aligns his jaw properly. He says it's better than the machine.

Uvulaplasty and tonsilectomy. Cuts your uvuala and tonsils out basically.

I did have bleeding occur twice after initial surgery and had to back under to fix it. I guess it rare but I was lucky enough to have it happen on each side of my mouth. Basically a scab breaks free and you can bleed out because its close to an artery.

You have to eat jello and pudding for 3 weeks basically.

I had 100 episodes in an hour!!! The Tech. had to wake me up and put me on the CPAP immediately. Had the surgery, by far the WORST SURGERY I HAVE HAD SO FAR!!!!! I was in constant pain couldn't eat or DRINK anything for 10 days. Pain killers solutions to numb my throat, nothing helped, LOST 20lbs. It felt like swallowing rusty nails that were on fire. The surgery was successful. I am sleeping better, snoring a little bit but not like prior to having the surgery.

I was in Liquid Roxicet Heaven. It is a shitty surgery tho. Under anesthia 3 times a week is no fun. Felt like crying the third time.

I had the Surgery as well. It worked great but the rehab from it was a pain.

I hated adding Distilled water every nite to it. And if you suddenly get a boner, transitioning into trying to get some ass, after removing your hyper baric chamber isnt exactly easily done.

small but working on it said:
anyone know what actually causes it, weight, genes,etc... ?

both can. Weight makes it worse. So for BB's that's not good. We need the rest. I am glad I'm getting it now if I was unknowingly not getting it.
