Another new guy with no clue

Hi everyone, I been lurking for about a week now. I've soaked up a lot of information and decided to introduce myself.

Im 29, 5'10" currently at 180lbs, I would assume my BFI is close to 9-10%. I suffered a major motor cycle crash and went from lean to flab in my recovery. As unfortunate as that was, I am recover(ed)ing and I am choosing to live an even healthier lifestyle.

Daily work outs include (on seperate days) arms, chest, back, legs, bi's, tri's, cardio.

Daily diet is: Yogurt, granola, lean meats (usually chicken or wild game that I shoot on the ranch) salads, raw spinnach, seeds, fresh fruit, fish maybe once a week.

Daily sups: N.O.xplode, Animal pack style vitamins I got at GNC which had everything my doctor told me I needed to be getting on ASAP.

Edited to add: I took a cycle of Dbol and Winny V about 3-4 years ago and freaking loved it. . . I would slept with the bottles that stuff was so amazing. . . now, I have a job I cant loose so I am waiting for the script as previously mentioned. At that time I had better all around stats, and weighed in at aroun 168-170, low BFI and was cut better than I ever had been.

My goal is to get as lean and fit as possible. Im looking to maintain 180 lbs in the end result while having a 3-5% BFI. Im going to cunsult my physician about using AAS with a legal scrip due to an ongoing lifelong medical condition that has been proven over and over to be a benefit to the health of people like me. With a legal scrip I will assume I will burn more fat than I am now and slightly bulk up. I would like to be in "fight shape". 1, for my job, 2 because my best friend and his cousin both fight MMA here in Texas at NOGA. I wont ever get to be to their tallent but I'd love to at least get up in that general area.

My bench is currently at 120 pounds, free curls around 50-60 depending on the day, preacher curls at 60+, lat pull downs at 80+, leg press 130-160 depending on how I feel, leg curls at 80+, lat pull down at 110 or less (cant break 110), verticle bench press is at 130.

I am still physically unable to do squats from my injury, but that will be implemented as soon as possible. I fractured a vert and its the only exercise that screws me up still.

I've seen some pretty amazing pictures on here and I have a typically negative attitude about my self worth but I'd kill to look like half of yall. So please, dont hold back, any advice, instruction etc, will not be wasted. I fully intend on emersing back into a healthy lifestyle. . . again .. . for the third time.

You're 5'10 180 and 9 or 10% bodyfat and you bench 120? I'm not at all trying to be a prick here bro so please don't take it that way but this doesn't add up. Those stats don't make you a big guy but they make you an extremely fit guy. I'd say more fit than most on this board actually. My suspicion is that maybe your bodyfat calculations are off a bit. Post a pic and you'll get some bro's either confirming for you or giving you their estimates (which are pretty close). Part of the reason I think your off on your BF is your desire to "maintain" 3-5% bodyfat and be in "fight shape". 3-5% bodyfat is not fight shape bro. 3-5% is "I'm going to pass out after 1 round" shape. Pro bodybuilders come into a contest at 3% and can only hold it for a matter of days. That low bodyfat cannot be maintained - zero chance. Great to hear you're making a comeback though bro, glad you survived your accident. But like said, post some pics for some really good advice.

^^^ good post.

anything around 10% body fat is very good for a bodybuilder. endurance runners will have body fats in the single digits, and bodybuilders who compete will drop their body fat during the season into the mid single digits, but in the offseason it is much higher.

120 pound bench tells me you need to get set up on a better workout strategy.. this is what i would focus on right now. I have a 3 day split below in my signature that you should do for the next 6 months. you will definately improve

Agreed. You have a long way to go my friend but congratulations on getting off your ass and taking charge. This board has given me an unbelievable amount of information. Keep training and reading.

Nah bro, your definately not being a prick. Im here for the cold hard truth. . .

My stats probably are off. I'll get a shirtless pic in some shorts tonight when Im home and post it up. That should give the best over all for a guess on my BFI right?

For me 120 BP is a ton, thats my max. I typically stay at 100 LB for a regular work out. Sometimes even lighter if I been in the gym for a little bit and Im gassed out.

What part of tx u in? 1 thing I noticed that u seem really really negative about yourself, maybe almost depressed? I don't think that's a good state of mind to have and use aas as it could trigger the depression even more. Your 190lbs, there no way u can be a fat blob unless you're 4 ft tall? If u can't appreciate yourself now just getting gear isn't going to fix that alone. U have to be in a good place mentally an physically to get the benefits aas has to offer.

Thanks for the feed back. Also thanks for the workout advice in that link. Im already enjoying it just reading it.

What would you recommend my BP weight should be? What advice would you give for starting. Obviously my dr. will tell me when wehre and how much. . . but he is by no means a benefactor of AAS so I would prefer to hear it first hand from those who are knowledgeable.

I guess in a sense I wanna do this the right way, the smart way, with no regrets on why I didnt do something sooner, later, faster, harder, slower etc.

Still reading many many "sticky" posts, but just looking for your personal opinion.

at 190 pounds naturally a dedicated lifter should be able to lift well into the 200's with little problem. some guys have bad genetics and some guys have good, so it is very relative.

you just have to workout more that is the bottom line. and it does take time, and there is no magic pill to get you there with a short cut. a buddy of mine is a bicyclist and only benches 100 pounds, he never lifts weights so how is he supposed to get stronger? bicycling won't make you a stronger lifter.. you have to keep at it and bust your ass in the gym. if you follow my routine i outlined i guarantee that in 6 months you will add 80-100 pounds to your bench press even with bad genetics

I totally understand. My first cycle it took me about the whole 8 weeks to do enough for me to see my own real benefits. Others started to notice it sooner but still, I agree with ya, no magic pills.

I printed your split cycle. That way I can have it with me while Im working out to answer questions and to be able to pass it on to others.

For being my first thread, and first time on a site with this much info, I gotta say yall really make a guy feel welcome. Thanks for the info again. I'll be going in this afternoon when Im off to finish my leg work out. Im gonna implement your routine and get rid of mine.

Down south in CC.

Maybe it was an abusive step mom, shitty dad, picked on in school. . . I dunno.
I rodeo'd for a while and got tuff quick, started fighting (I dont condone that as a resolve but I was 17-22 so I thought it was the answer then), got into the military at 18 and they whipped my ass into shape. . . unfortunately nothing in the world is perfect, so neither was my attitude after the life I chose to lead. I have a positive outlook on life. Im married with a beautiful wife, church on sundays, great friends and strong family ties with my mom's side. . .
I like to think that my low self esteem is the reason I strive to go faster, work harder etc. I dont have an ego, I dont think Im the best at anything, I just get in and do what I can with what I got. I take compliments with a grain of salt because until I am "the best" I've got this mental demon telling me "theres still someone better than you". Been through counciling, go through phsych evals for work, so if they said Im no danger to myself or others, my pastor thinks Im leading a godly life. . . cant be in too bad a shape to start AAS.

FWIW: The fat blob reference was made as a running joke with me and my wife. She saw pics of me when I was on my cycle a few years back. . . and shes obviously seen me now. . . . HUGE difference in lean mass and overall definition.

Shitty down here today huh? Im actually across the bay.
Im no Arnold by any means but @ 190-195lbs and 6'1" a typ bench workout for me is 3 sets 6-8 at 225 w/ 1 long painful neg set at 135. No doubt you can get up to a bench workout weight of 185 in 6mo!
Also I didn't notice if you were taking down a whey shake immediately post workout?
And watch ur back... maybe stick to legpress and hack squats for a while so ur back is stabalized. That would be hell if u hurt urself from an old motorcyle injury.

HAHA. Believe it or not this is my favorite weather. Makes tracking a lot easier. Animals are up and moving to feed when it gets dark. Yea, I'm a hunting geek!

No whey protein yet. I plan on grabbing some Monday (pay day) and if anyone can, please make a recommendation.

Here are the pics so I can get advice and a guess on my BFI

This is post work out after 1.5 hours

Current weight after I took pics was 180.8.

Edited to add: I don't have enough posts to post links or pics so y'all have to copy and paste unfortunately. Any issues and I can email them out I guess.

This is the only pic I have of me during my cycle a few years back. I know its lame, but it got me some game at some point so feel free to poke fun I guess. I weighed in at roughly 165-170, looked cut as I ever had and was basically nuts in the gym and loved it!

Thats defiantly not 10% bf, i would say 14%.. Also i dont believe your max bench is only 120lb, thats not even a 45lb each side, im being very honest, ive seen a 100lb dude benching 135 for 2 reps, im sure you can do more than 120 at 185..

I didn't do bench this week so to be fair to myself, I'll put it in the work out next week and post the results.

Seriously though I got a weak bench press. Everything else seems to be on par for a guy my size/weight/condition

Anything will work. I use a vanilla whey isolate 2-3 scoops with a tall glass of milk, crushed ice and cinnamon. Taste friggin incredible after a good workout. You'll want something with at least 20 grams/serving.
-proteinfactory.com is good.
-needtobuildmuscle.com has quality and tasty products
-bodybuilding.com has a good selection
or you could just do the gnc whey powder but get it on sale.

And i agree with Iron. You should be and probably could bench 135. Lift like a madman and eat right and you'll push right past 135 lbs in no time.

There is no way you are only doing 100 bench. My son is only 12 and 70lbs and has been working out with me for about 4 months now and does 3x10 at 80lbs

I used to have a weak bench too but when I started lifting for strength my bench went to 315 in a little less then a year

do you do pushups at all? I myself agree with the others, thats a very low bench..but who cares...just stick with the suggestions given to you...and eat...its really a consistency game...stick with it..be consistent...put effort in, take care of your body...imho id stay away from the "stuff" till you figure out what your frame will allow you to put on it naturally...but either way...follow the advice from these guys.

Man your form or something has to be off bro.. At your size I seriously would think you would be working out with atleast a plate on each side.. You had BDU pants on in the one pick so im guessing your active duty? I did 4 years and we did pushups on the regular, that alone should have your bench up past that.. You might have already stated this but how long have you been lifting?

Yea now I just feel like an idiot. [insert new guy & no clue]

I was told that I'm not counting the bar weight... Which I didn't realize. When I said I couldn't bench 120 I meant 120 lb worth of plates.

When I do the vert bench I'm doing something at 100+ so I'd imagine my regular bench has to be at like 100-125. I'll give it a shot Monday am and post some results.

I came off active duty a while back (4-5 yrs). I got another job, I wear the BDU's cause they can get trashed and I wont get upset.

I also wanted to ask about this site I found. I did a search for "legal steroids" hoping to find a list of roids that weren't a schedule 3 so I could do them without worrying about work, or the doctor. I came across this site claiming to have 100% legal roids.

I didn't search the forums for any references too much yet because the keywords bring up like every single thread ever posted here.

Any input? Not worth the time, or buy it?

I'm gonna do a month of the healthy eating and following the workout I got on here and see where I'm at in one month. Then after that I figure I'd be ready to evaluate my AAS situation and what the doc says. I go this week so.... Wish me luck.

Yea I been doing reverse push ups and regular push ups on my arm days. I'm throwing in pull ups this week. I think the last time I did pull ups I hit 7 so that will be my goal for now. I'd like to get above that for sure but 7 will be a good place to start.

UPDATED.

Starting weight was 190.x Last night after my work out and shower I came in at 179.6 Pretty much all flab. You can tell the difference in the pics I been taking. HUGE thanks to Stevesmi for the new work out. Its bad ass.

Also, I asked one of the gym rats at work about my weight on the bench press. He laughed for about 10 mins straight. . . apparently Im a fuckin idiot [insert - no clue] and was only counting the weight of the plate. He told me you are supposed to count the weight of the bar also. So add approx 45-50 lbs, to my 90 I was claiming I was able to bench, works out to 140. I put the big boy pants on today, mid work out I loaded two 45 plated and did my 8 reps, 2 sets. the last set I threw on another 10 pounds to do a blow out, and fuckin handled it like a boss. I guess my real weight is around 140-150.

So looks like the lulz on me for this one.

Again, huge thanks to Stevesmi for the work out, if its cool with you I wanna post it in the gym for others to use, also a big thanks to everyone helping me in the thread, I appreciate the quality info.

no problem, thats why i put up that thread to help guys out, you can post it in your gym anything to help others out.. also feel free to bump that thread and tell your story so others can get some encouragement.. 3 day splits are simple, fun, and it works your entire body if done correctly. here is the thread he is talking about http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/w...ng/push-pull-legs-routine-outline-819993.html which is in my signature

also i saw people recommend pushups in this thread which i love, but I would like to see you work on dips before pushups on your push days.. dips you are using your entire body weight so they are more difficult and they will get you stronger much quicker.. pushups i like to end my workouts with.. try and get in a lot of reps of both. i like to do 35 reps of dips for 3 sets.. and then do about 145 pushups to end my workouts in 4 or 5 sets. its brutal but it will strengthen your triceps and build upper body strength .. of course you are gonna want to build up to that over time

Thanks, will do.

Im enjoying the workout. I found some videos on youtube that showed the proper lifting techniques. I know it sounds lame to say you saw somethignon Youtube but it worked. I added the few poinds to my lat pull down by following the vid.

Ill be posting up the website in the gym so people can check this place out. Hopefully they can get as much use out of it as I do.

Yesterdays workout:

Bench - 150lb max
3 sets of 8 reps 140 lb
3 sets of 8 reps 130 lb

Vert Bench 140 man
3 sets of 8 reps 140lb
3 sets of 8 reps 130lb

Decline bench 130 max
3 sets of 8 reps 130lb

incline bench 130 max
3 sets of 8 reps 130lb

Tri lat pull down 90 man
3 sets of 8 reps at 70lb

butterflies 80 max
3 sets of 8 60 lb

Laying on a bench, arms straight out to the side, lift the arms straight above my cheat using my chest as much as possible, 20 lb, each hand
3 sets of 8 reps 20lb

Bi curls max 90
1 set of 8 reps 60 lb
1 set of 8 reps 80 lb

tri lat pull down front 130 max
1 set of 8 reps 60 lb
1 set of 8 reps 80 lb

lat pull down with small bar to chest 110 max
2 sets of 8 reps 110lb

I did all the chest exercises first, then when I couldnt do anythign else with the chest I worked on arms for a bit, for some feeling back in the chest and did a few butterflies and lats. Then I was so fatigued I couldnt do much of anything. So I figure I did good working until the end of my capability.

Typical diet and food that I normally list.

I noticed that Im not necessarily "hurting" myself, but Im working until I cant, my chest seems to be the weak link so far. Did back and Tri's yesterday and fuckin slaughtered the gym. Dont know why or how but made improvements on everything from duration to weight. Either I cought a second wind or finally got used to it but I did the entire work out, went back and added some weight and kept hittin it.

I know Im not up to par with yall, but Im trying. So as usual, any advice?

No homo, but is there anything noticable from the originals, wife claims I slimmed out a bit and the scales not lying either. . . but I dont really see it.

So. . . here is the update after that doctors app.

I was misdiagnosed with anxiety . . . I have PTSD, Situational Depression and a chronic anger issue. . . . all of which completly got me denied from any form of AAS by the dr. To add insult to injury, (FTR it was never mentioned in my medical charts) he also took a stab at when I took my first round of steroids. . . almost got it right on the year. HOW THE FUCK HE KNEW THAT IS BEYOND ME. I obviously dont look like a person who has done a cycle (at least thats what I gather after looking at yall).

Im switching meds, he wants to see 6 months of positive results with the new meds and my above mentioned disorders (proper terminology?). Once he sees that thigns may change. He also informed me that I should continue working out "dont take anything illegal and look like Arnold, just get into the best shape you can". So back to the drawing board.

I think Im going to get some quality protien powder and some N2 for pre work out rush. . . multi vitamin. . . . looks like needtogetaas is going to get some business. . . unfortunately not the kind I wanted to give him.

If anyone has any ideas as far as sups, powders, vitamins etc, and you've been keeping up with my thread, please feel free to offer advice.

Always appreciate advice from the pros.
