Another CKD Question

Well, I don't know all there is to know about Atkins, but the main differences to me are :

CKD emphasises healthy fats ie: flax, fish oil etc.
CKD involves a very specific macronutrient breakdown, and counts calories.

ckd = low carb diet for active people who actually care about their health and the way they look

Atkins = Low carb diet for fat asses who want an easy way out and an excuse to eat fried eggs and bacon

I understand that, I was looking more for specifics. :D

This is kind of what I was wondering. I'm trying to do CKD, but it seemed way too complicated to come up with a different diet for each day of the week. I basically made up a Low Carb diet (for six days a week) and a Carb Up diet. For the Low Carb diet, I just averaged all 6 days together.

Do you think this is going against the CKD principles? Is it going to make that much difference if I work out each day individually?

I do think it's going to make a difference if you just average it out over 6 days. For example, Mr. X has the fat high and protein really low the first two days after a carb up, this is to get you back into ketosis as quick as possible. If you just do the same diet as you would on day 5 & 6, it will likely take longer to get into ketosis...

It takes a bit of figuring to come up with a diet for each day, but you only have to do it once.

I used Excel, made a small spreadsheet with a list of all the foods I can eat and their nutritional breakdown (fitday.com). Then I could just add or take away items to make up the menu's for all the days.

Try the online CKD calculator brought to you by the infamous Mr.X!! It will figure all of the macronutrient breakdowns for each day of the week.

Or are you concerned more with food choices as opposed to the actual breakdown of macro's?

Yeah, I've used the calculator. I just didn't feel like sitting down and figuring out the food to eat for those six individual days.

Well, that being said, I think I might put some more effort in this and really try to nail this diet.

Any suggestions on high-fat, low-protein, low-carb foods? That seems to be my biggest problem. (I'm already taking 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil a day...I definitely don't want any more)

LOL.. yeah the flax sucks I can't handle more than 2 spoons a day either. What about mixing in 1 spoon of olive oil to something else.. omelette? Chicken?

Or maybe peanut butter (natty) 1 tablespoon = 8 fat, 4 pro, 1.5 carbs...
