saw my friend who works for exxon/mobil and lived in the french quarters...2 days before the hurricane hit, he took off to houston w/his laptop and clothes on his back..asked him what about his place, said its either flooded or looted completely...
as far as complaining about the deli meat, they are lucky to even have food after enduring a week without food/water....heck all the popeyes, kfc's should have donated food and made them happy....

This Volunteer in the original post probably believed in all the crap the cultural marxist/pollitically correct crowd taught him. You know, the old tired canards "Diversity is our strength" and "We are all the same" blah blah blah....
Well, he got an eye opener to the reality that we are NOT all the same and diversity causes division. If you know anything about the welfare system in New Orleans you would know that these people flocked to that city because of the ease of living. They can get an easy low paying job that doesn't take much effort. Most of them pay just low enough so that the employees remain eligeable for welfare.
Katrina was a man made disaster... not a natural disaster. The people who stayed behind created it! Its a fact. Help could not go in because of the raping and violence.
I know plenty of people who went to help and were attacked. They had to go back with armed guards with machine guns.
So yes.. they have lost it all. The system they so easily manipulated is gone right now. What do they do. Flip the bird in the face of people who donated their time and money to help them. Those are the same people who were paying their welfare benefits.
Who wouldn't want their free ride life back? You can see it in all the posts of stories. They feel like they are entitled to everything. They will not work for it.
BTW. In my area we are having a problem with the people they are housing. There are a ton of sex offenders and people with serious warrants for their arrests being shipped all over the country.

It should also be noted that I donated 70 hours of my time at a Soup Kitchen so far this year.
All of the people there are from extreme situations. When I serve them food they are all greatfull and happy and say "thank you". It makes a shitty day worth while every time.
A lot of these people are drug atticts, retarded or abused. Yet, they still have the decencey to say thank you.
