...came across this on Sports Authority's web-site. Is it just me, or would you totally not trust these for doing overhead presses or flat benches?

yes those are not safe at all, ive had those come off plenty of times, and its loud as fuck when they hit the concrete.
 
Problem with most of this stuff is its made for the casual at home lifter.

...which is funny since those are the people who need the most protection 'from themselves'.
 
if it does fall on your head, you can sue the company that makes them, and you will probably win. and then with the money they pay you, you could buy something nice.
 
my mom bought me those like two years ago or something. they suck big time. i cant use heavy weight with them. i have to use the clamps and the twist clamps for more safety and they still can fall off jsut with a good 30lbs.
