Ever since I got pregnant with my son (3 years ago) I've had problems with my lower back. It got so bad to where I could not lay flat on my back on hard surfaces like the floor or even a hospital bed because my S. I joints would literally pop out of place and cause my entire lower body to go numb. I still have problems with it and becuase of it one leg is longer than the other. My question is..........Is it okay to build the muscle around this area or would it cause problems becuase my back is out of alignment. I've been to a physical therapist and all they do is use the ultasound on it, but it really does not help much. I stretch it everyday. About a year ago I was seeing a chiropractor but that got expensive really quick and the military does not pay for "alternative" treatments. The chiropractor helped a lot but he said I needed 30+ sessions becuase my back is so out of whack. I have 5 pinched disks and curvature in my neck. Once my husband graduates in October I'll start back going to the chiropractor but until then what can I do help out the situation. Any suggestions?

Have you gone to a Doctor about this??? Physical therapy?

Yes New@, I've gone to physical therapy both while I was pregnant and after and I have seen a chiropractor. The 1st physical therapist basically told me I will always be screwed up. The second phycial therapist was a little better but could not really help me to much. I saw a doctor for 10 months for it and all she did was prescribe meds. My main concern is building the muscle around the area since its not "in place". I don't want to strengthen these muscles to hold the joints in the wrong alignment. my left leg is 1/2 inch longer than my right because of this. Keep in mind I've only seen military doctors and physical therapists for this problem.

The chiropractor (civilian) was great and the treatments were working but I had to leave the town I was in to start school back last January and at 50$ and session and him wanting to see me weekly if not bi-weekly adds up. (not covered by military insurance) Maybe I can find a web site that can help me. Thanks for your replies.
