But I'd imagine you'd be as full as if you ate the oats and peanut butter. So why not just eat them?

Shakes are meant to be taken in between meals for extra protein and calories. If you're going to that, doesn't it make sense to use one that'll give you what calorie rich foods can't?

ould you rather spend 10 mins eating or drink a shake in 30 secs?

Agreed,for protien powder.By the time I was 31,I was getting rot gut from the cheap shit,and figured it was time to step up the quality a notch and spend the cash on some good protien powder.Isopure drinks in glass bottles good too.
 
Pure Karbolyn is by far the new best Carb-up. Add protien or something easy like Aftershock and that has made a difference in my growth.
 
Interesting topic. Iv looked at nearly every weight gainer on the market and I always used to buy gainers but they are very expensive and your money is basically going on sugars and poor quality carbs rather than protein. Universal Real Gains and Cytogainer were my favs but its very expensive for whats actually in it. I agree that its easier to just buy a gainer, i used to because i didnt really have time to eat all the time at work. But you are way better off making your own, saving yourself money and more importantly supplying you body with a better nutritional shake.

I buy Dymatize's Elite Whey protien or 100% Gold Stanard by optimum. Each scoop (30grams) contains over 5grams BCAAs, 4 grams glutamine and 24gs protein.....70-80 servings per tub.

A weight gainer will contain 100+ grams of sugar (usually maltodextrin or fructose) and 50 grams of protein and around 10grams of fat. Why would you pay your hard earned cash for the majority of the calories comming from crappy quality carbs when you can just mix 2 scoops of protein powder with some skimmed milk (which will give both fast and slow released protein), oats/peanut butter or flax and some fruit - supplying you with 50+ grams protein, 12+ grams BCAAs, 10+ grams glutamine, clean carbs, and good fats. Its way cheaper and alot healthier than that processed garbage.
 
There is an excellent 4 month gap between postes right up there. :)

Pre: 2 scoops of On Whey Double chocolate(48g of Protein)............and a banana.

Post work out: 2 scoops of On Whey Double chocolate(48g of Protein)............2 scoops of the Now Carb powder(50g of M Carbs).and then I eat an hour later
