Can anyone give me a clue on a good tasting shake for post workout. And how soon after I workout do I have to drink it? I'm about 15 min from my gym.

Thanks:p

Well taste doesn't matter so much to me anymore!! But look for something with at least 20-50g protein and 50-75g of carbs (whey combined with dextrose is a popular choice). You want to drink it immediately and then resume normal eating a half-hour to an hour later.

get a decent whey protein isolate and mix dextrose/maltodextrin in there

if u wawnt pre made stuff i;ve used ro recover though i dont rate the taste (the product itself is good)

I will try scitec's 10 in one next time since it has a million and one shit in there that would cost loads if i bought them seperately

Surge is also a good choice

Good response

Whey w/dextrose/mal is a great choice. You might be better off taking it with you and drink it immediately post workout. When you get home, prepare a well balanced meal. Chicken breast with brown rice is also a very popular choice for the meal AFTER your PWO shake, about 45-1hr afterwards

I made up an interesting concoction for after-workout. It contains:

12 ounces of grape juice, two scoops of Whey protein powder (I like chocolate myself) 4-6 ounces of water (to taste) 5 grams of pure powdered creatine monohydrate, and two or three Tblsp of Maltodextrin (to taste)

Sounds strange I know, but it tastes pretty good and as far as I can see, has about everything a growing boy (or girl) needs. When I go to the gym, I'll take my mini cooler and store it in there alongside half a gallon of cold water. That way, I'll have it immediately available. From what I understand, the quicker you get it in, the better off you'll be.

Although, I assume that you being a female, you aren't 210 lbs like me, so maybe a little less on the Protein powder. I dunno.

I don't know if my ratios are correct or not, but I do know that I noticed a major difference a few hours afterwards when I didn't take it. Ouch.

juicehead, there is nothing special about isopure but the price. Its just ion exchange why isolate with a multi-vitamin in it and most bodybuilders already take vitamins.

Gymgurl, since you are not doing a keto diet, go with a whey isolate of some type with 25-30 g of maltodextrine in it. 5 grams of creatine wouldn't hurt either.

I guess it all depends on what fits the certain diet ur on...

If you were refering to my statement about isopure, it doesn't. I was just trying to save you some $$$ by telling you how to makeyour own isopure. They charge 2 times what you could make your own for. It all depends on what your budget looks like. I'm a full time student right now, so if I have extra money to spend, I don't use it to by something from one source for 2 or 3 times what I could get it somewhere else for. Just like with grocery shopping. I go where a given item costs less. However you may have a job that pays 6 figures or, may have less finacial needs that I do, so its no big deal to spend a few extra $$$ here and there. It depends on one's finacial situation.
