a few questions for a noob

hello all,
i just recently found this message board and apparantly this seems like the place to be. =)

alot of transformations ive seen here that has given me the motivation to give ckd a try.

im about 5'5, weighing in at 163 pds. i want to shed about 8pds more of fat and see if i can get rid of this fatty pudge right around my belly. ive had it my whole life, even when i used to cut weight to 130 during my HS years. (damn i miss though years). anyway, ive lost already 15pds from running alone the past 3months. now since my dropping of weight has stopped, im going to hit the weights and try ckd.

i will post pics of my progression.

here's some of my question:

sometimes, i feel really weak, shaky a little bit, as if my body is low on sugar. is this the cause of lack of carbs? sugar? food?.

is this what ckd will feel like?

sometimes ill get this feeling even after i ate an hour ago.

ive been told if i felt like this, that means my body is in starvation mode, is it true?

thanks all for the help.

personally......

from my experience, about 90% of people I know and know via the net (I know a ton) HATE CKD's.....

They slow metabolism, u have no chance to build any muscle, u usually lose a lot of muscle, u feel lethargic 24/7, your attitude is shitty, workouts suck, and food choices suck harder. Once u go back to eating again, BALLOON CITY. Remember, anything that falls under the "EXTREME" category, is a temporary fix, perhaps, if one can even get it to work correctly.

Now, hold off on all the replies about why a CKD is soooooooo good, I'm just stating what my experience has been in training/working with hundreds and hundreds of bodybuilders, fitness fanatics, and just everyday people.

Check out my forums for some great ideas! Lots of help there bro, and also @ GotFina.com. Lots of action there.

Good luck!

if u gonna do a CKD, follow it PERFECTLY! IMO it's and all or nothing diet, if you do it right u'll get great results, but if you do it half-ass, u'll regret ever doing it and your results will be nothinglike you hoped. I agree with SC, but then again there are many people who've had great results with CKD! I tried it, and I felt VERY lethargic, and was lazy all the time and was short with everyone, but the results were nice. I wouldn't do it again though I don't think...

I hated my workouts on CKD. Especially the depletion workouts. HELL! However, my moods were actually more calm. I was never hungry. Never felt lightheaded like some people get, and I think my skin looked better.

I started getting heartburn from the lack of carbs I think so I ended it short and just went to a low carb high protein.

It works though if you can follow it by the book.

I personally have had great results from my CKD experiences.
After the first 2-3 wks the feeling crappy part goes away and I feel great. losses are consistant and very little muscle loss.
If you do choose to do a CKD type diet, just remember to
gradually introduce carbs back into the diet. About 25g carb per day increase each week until you get to the target carb amount for your regular diet should be fine. Just do your homework and check the posts by Mr. X and Kakdeisel on the CKD diet. I used a blend of their methods.

---That being said, SC is right, this diet isnt for everyone because everyone is different. He's right that there's other ways to do it that may work better for you. It's said here very, very often. "It's basicly calories in vs. calories out".

My point is CKD will help you shed the fat pretty quickly, but dont be upset if you just cant stand it. It has to be done without cheating and by the rules to work. Like SC said, it is kind of a quick fix. But if you have a regular healthy diet to go back to once you're finished You should be ok. All in all, I like CKD's but you'll have to see for yourself how it works for you.

-Best of luck to ya !!:)

thanks all for the advice.

if not ckd, than what?

i was just at the bookstore today and was reading through books on fat, carbs and sugars.

do you guys just recommend cutting back some carbs and make sure the carbs I eat are the ones that are slowly digested. i was reading that some food like sticky rice are quickly digested, and cause insulin to spike hence constant changes in energy as suppose to eating wheat bread where blood sugars and insulin are maintained properly.
