5x5 question

i know the 5 sets of 5 reps but the question isdo you use one set weight?

example bench press 5x5 with 260? or are you supposed to switch weight each set?

thanks for any info

Theres a few different styles of the 5x5, one is that you use a set weight for all 5 sets. However the one I am currently on and am having great success with has 4 sets progressing in weight up to a 5th top set. So it would look like

1x5 130
1x5 160
1x5 200
1x5 235
1x5 260

Since this style incorporates weights working up to a final top set you are able to put on more weight allowing for better overload on your muscles. I recommend this method over using the same weight for each set.

i believe the original 5X5 is just one set weight.. and i believe you're supposed to add about 5lbs every W/O?
Or you could do what he said ^^^
honestly my preference would be drop sets though, or a pyramid w/o, like 150,160,185,175,165. something like that?

eh, whatever you want :\
