espn hockey is a joke. now that barnaby is gone im pretty sure barry melrose is the only hockey guy they have left. i don't mind melrose, but i don't really like him either. i don't expect them to have a huge number of analysts since hockey isn't nearly as popular as the other major sports, but come on. give us something.

NBC and Versus' new 10yr contract for $200 million/yr. will guarantee little to no coverage of hockey on ESPN. It's a good contract but there's no incentive for ESPN to give hockey any time on Sportscenter.

I don't like Melrose and I think Versus and NBC do a good job on hockey telecasts. Better than Bob Cole and the CBC. Too bad not many get to see it.

Former NHL pest Matthew Barnaby has been arrested and charged with domestic violence, according to a Buffalo television station.

WIVB reported that police responded to a call Friday and found extensive damage to a residence and two unharmed females.

Barnaby was arrested and charged with second degree criminal contempt, harassment, second degree criminal trespass and second degree criminal mischief, the station reported.

Barnaby, 38, has also been charged with aggravated harassment via a cell phone, WIVB said.

The Ottawa native spent Friday night in jail and will be arraigned Saturday morning.

In 834 games with the Sabres, Penguins, Lightning, Rangers, Avalanche, Blackhawks and Stars from 1992-2007, Barnaby amassed 113 goals, 187 assists and 2,562 penalty minutes.

Since retiring from the NHL, Barnaby has worked in television with TSN in Canada and ESPN in the U.S.

Barry Melrose is an idiot, being only a hockey fan I don't watch much of ESP-TOOL-N....

Versus isn't great but it will do....the guy who hosts the intermission (Bill Patrick?) is freaking terrible to listen to, WTF does he stop talking between words in a sentence?

And are you f-ing kidding me with some dipshit broad asking a coach questions ON THE BENCH DURING THE GAME?????

There shouldn't be women in any hockey telecast. Some airhead was asking Ovechkin questions before a game once and I swear he was this close to saying "Where the f did you people come up with these stupid questions?"

Emerick and Bennadatti (or whatever his name is) make you want to mute the TV...
