45-Year-Old Newbie Needs "Old Fart" Advice:

at your age there's a good possibility of severely lowered libido due to naturally declining testosterone levels. having said that, overtraining and/or poor diet and/or lack of sleep could be some of the culprits too.
 
Do you think 500mg a week of test is nessasary? considering 50mg a week is normally produced in a 25yo. I was thinking 250/250 each... Just until he sees what it does for him and how he reacts.

Point well taken and I agree we him, on you first cycle, you can use a lot less gear.

I was going to suggest the same.....
I am 40 and find my energy level really low. I don't work out as hard as I am sure you guys do, but find myself "slower" at the gym.
When I sleep well and eat really well, I find my energy level goes up and I can lift much heavier and recoup quicker.
 
Key point - there is a difference between HRT and a cycle. What most guys over 40 need is HRT - then they can spice that up with an occasional cycle. Or just cycle all the time. If you are on HRT you are not too worried about "shutdown" so PCT is not that relevant. One other thing, avoid progestins like deca. They tend to be hard on the libido. Not all people are affected negatively but its not worth the risk at our age.
