2006-08 VW Jetta: who has one/knows someone who has one?

i think its funny when people buy a car, change the oil every 20k miles, never touch the timing belt, spark plugs etc and expect the car to run like new.If you take care of a german car, it'll take care of you.

Factory oil change interval for new VWs is, first change at 5000, second at 10,000, then after that changes every 10K. Sump is filled at the factory with Castrol Syntec 5w40.

that goes for the first 40/50 k though right? after that is when people hit their probs because maintanance goes up at that point which is def a necessity especially at the major services at 60/100k

At the rate I'm going, it'll take me ten years to get to the 60K service. Or almost. I've had the GTI for 14 months, and have 8425 miles on it.

My wife has a Jetta...it's actually our everyday home car. It's a good car, but requires a lotta maintenance.

i had one for a rental the last 3 days...was impressed with it. :)

BUT

i have heard horror stories about vdub's build quality and reliability; espically on models assembled south of the border. :worried:

is their an easy way to tell if a jetta is german or mexican assembled? a key letter or number to look for on the VIN strip, perhaps?

your thoughts/opinions/experiences, pls... :artist:

damnn... i drive 40 miles each way to work (should move closer, but love the town/neighborhood im in)

sadly i drop 20k+ a year on my x5, just traded up for the new one - im quickly watching it depreciate :worried: but mann i love it.

i see VOA is offering a 3 year lease on jettas for 199/month...anyone do this?

What are the other fees? And what's the mileage limit?

why are you still asking these questions?
I though you were going to keep the PT, or buy a nissan or Camry

please, again don't buy a VW
you're obviously are SEARCHING for reasons not to, yet you keep talking about buying one
