2006-08 VW Jetta: who has one/knows someone who has one?

I belive someone has already mentioned VW's are notorius for little things breaking. I think its simply due to the fact that Germans feel the need to OVER Engineer everything on the car. Hell, even the wiper blades are high tech.

I bet he had more fun driving his Audi to the dealership than you did in your
PT

when it wasn't broke...

i have little patience for a car that will not stay together 99.9% of the time. the older i get the less i tolerate automotive stupidity and unreliability. looks like my next purchase will be a toyota, honda or nissan product.

HOW can you rationalize "over engineering" and "little things breaking" in the same paragraph?

Even though there may be performance benefits to making things complex,
Simple things usually break less often than complex ones..

Over Engineering was meant to mean Making it more complex than it has to be.
Not making it more reliable.

You can bury an AK 47 in the mud...come back in a week, hose it off and fire it. Try that with an M 16. More primitive designs are generally more robust than complicated designs..diesel engines Vs. gasoline etc etc...

it sounds like VW quality control is as variable as chrylser's is..looks like i got a good one and i will be keeping it. :artist:

Looks like VW quality control has improved by leaps and bounds since the dark years of 1992-2005. The current models are getting much better user reports.
