I saw a few other pics of Lenda thus far and she looked pretty damn good, much harder and bigger than I've ever seen her. At least women's bodybuilding is getting back to what it should look like, bodybuilding.

like this pic

She lives in Virginia Beach and when I saw her a few months ago at her gym she looked huger than huge. I can see why she won!

The only thing that's lagging relative to everything else are her gastrocs. But that's it.

She would have gotten my vote for overall.

OMG!!

Lenda is just the absolute BOMB!!
I now know there is a glimmer of hope for women's bodybuilding.
Yikes!! I'm getting the competitive fever again...
Duchess:D

Okay I got to say this and I will accept some flames he he he .... but MAN she is too huge IMHO. I like little Bergmans body better and I think its a better model form womens bodybuilding. BUT I like the fact that another OLD one(like me) won the prize. I know Berman is well over 40 and I think Lenda is 39.

:wodin:

I don't like it when women who are impossibly huge (impossibly in the sense of a natural achievement) win such important contests. I am not against using AAS in general, I just think it creates an unfair standard. I would prefer it if the women who won stll had incredible, big, muscular physiques but seemed like there was even a possibility that they did it without abusing their bodies.

"I would prefer it if the women who won stll had incredible, big, muscular physiques but seemed like there was even a possibility that they did it without abusing their bodies."

That statement is an oxymoron.

W6

Top competitors(heavy steroid users) have to abuse their bodies to some degree because of the standard set down by the bodybuilding community. I think one can use roids and not abuse their bodies but that wouldn't result in the bodies we currently see.
The standard is HUGE and this takes a lot of juice and not just good genetics.........its gotten way out of hand IMHO. I would vote for a body like Spatts has over Lenda Murray any day.

The same can be said about the male game.......to much focus on HUGE I think. The men are on 4 grams of testosterone plus other gear and also insulin and GH and they are on all year long and sometimes for years on end!!!.....Shit I wouldn't want their coronaries. Even Arnold has commented on the focus on HUGE at all costs and the amount of gear required to achieve this.

Difficult subject for sure.

Well said. The bodies I see pics of on this board, including Spatts', are fuckin incredible. They are my standards of bbing beauty. I can appreciate the ones who win the big contests, but they still seem monstrous.

 what are u saying ewww too?? I think Lenda, looks amazing,, yes her back is HUGE, she IMO is not overly big.. I am picking the figure physics over the bodybuilding but I still think some of the lightweight bodybuilders look good..

Look at Juliette Bergmann she looks awsome,, she is not too big i dont think and same with Valentina Chepiga....

Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. It just depends on how serious u take the sport.

To go against the grain of the majority of this thread so far - I LOVE the look of Lenda Murray and all the top bb's. It's no point us analysing their look as opposed to what you want to achieve, they have sacrificed way more than you or I could ever imagined to be where they are, and look the way they do. Accept it for what it is and appreciate what they stand for, not just their physical strength, but their inner strength. They have put up with those eewwww's for years.

These top bb women are great! They deserve our respect, not our criticism, especially on a bb forum!

I agree with AB - it's not necessarily the look I want for myself, but you can't argue with the fact Lenda has developed an amazing body. After all, it is bodybuilding.

I also agree some of it has gotten out of hand - especially in men's bodybuilding - but that's what the public pays for. I'd rather see men with the "Frank Zane" type of physique, personally. But the majority of the public who attend BB shows don't agree with me. :-)

I agree with JJ - I applaud and appreciate Lenda's physique for what it is, not what I desire for myself. She has a lot of muscle, and she carries it well; proportionate to her body frame. Too many bodybuilders (male and female) of late just look thick and chunky - muscle for muscle's sake, without regard for nice flowing lines and aesthetic balance relative to their frame.

My eyes are so accustomed to judging horses' conformation (the word for horse physique) where 'form to function' is the determining factor, that I look at human bodies in the same light. I'd like to see both male and female bodybuilding move in a direction that rewards quality over quantity, but unfortunately quality is more subjective and difficult to quantify.

I don't think they are eeeewwww but just a little to huge. I think Bergmann is a good role model.....her proportion and beautiful lines are great..and she is 43 or something like that!!

About the sacrifice issue.....yes they have sacrificed a lot this is true BUT don't let anyone fool you....they are on that stage because they have the nerve to take very large amounts of androgens. There are plenty of women on the board that have the genetics to be a top pro(Spatts for one) but they have choosen to be more moderate.

The biggest sacrifice is being willing to take 200 of test and 200 of nandrolone per week AS A MINIMUM dose. They also are willing to loose their female sounding voice and put up with a good deal of facial hair growth. I can respect their choice.

Please don't flame me....I respect these ladies. I just don't agree with the current focus on HUGENESS at any cost that is seen in both male and female bodybuilding today.

I was very happy when little Bergmann won last year and I thought that was the start of a change in female bodybuilding but it looks like I am wrong. Again Lenda Murrays body is not gross to me.

I think Lenda, Bergmann, Chepiga, Heather Lee (can't remember her new name), and a few others look like absolute goddesses - they carry their mass like queens and they deserve a great deal of respect for the incredible dedication they have for what they do. If it were a look achieveable without drugs, or even without copious amounts of drugs, you can be sure I would be in there, working my butt off for it.

That said, though, I have to admit that the genetic question comes into this a lot, because a lot of the top female pros, who obviously ALSO work as hard, simply look bad the size they are - I'm not sure if it's the size itself, or just the way it looks on particular people/frames.

I think that's the key really - some people can carry it, others just can't.

My 2 cents.

I agree some seem to be able to hold the mass well and retain a sexy female look but some others look terrible and very masculine IMHO. I think Murray looks sexy but she can't hold a candle to Bergmann...eye of the beholder he he he

The glossy magazines would have you believe that the pro's are there simply because of hard work and great genetics..and okay they do use a little steroid.... HA!.... they are there because they are amongst a group that has good genetics BUT decided to use LARGE doses of androgens. I wish they would at least tell the truth!

I thought I was taking a lot of gear with 1 gram of test per week and 100mg of tren per day, and I was 250 lbs...thats peanuts...the top male pro's are on 4 grams of test plus GH plus insulin and other steroids too! The ladies take a minimum of 400mg of androgen per week and some also include GH and insulin!!

BTW the pro's don't work any "harder" than many recreational trainees. They are that way mostly because of steroids.

So although I respect the pro's and even admire some I don't hold them in high esteem simply because I am fully aware that there are plenty of men and women out there that could even beat them in competition but they choose to not abuse their bodies with long term mega doses of gear. (Spatts for one)

The thing that really aggrevates me about the whole issue, is that as fitness buffs we are always criticising the 'model' look and girls who are aspiring to be ultra thin as being unhealthy and setting a bad example, yet at the same time we 'admire' the pro female bodybuilders who IMO are presenting an unhealthy appearance and lifestyle at the other end of the extreme.

Seems somewhat hypocritical don't you think.

...and abuse is relative. You can't go anywhere in the US without seeing a huge woman who abuses her body.

Yeah but they still look like women and aren’t ½ way to crossing over genders.

It is a shame what these "females" have done to their bodies.. ..but me personally I love that back shot of Lenda I think it is AMAZING...but i dont look at female bodybuilders at her level like most other people do, i look at them as a work of art, like a statue, regardless how manly and hideos many of them look in the face.... i realized LOONNG ago to look at the body as the body brought to its max potential and to not look at the faces any more cause to be honest, they are nasty. i dont consider many of them female anymore, mainly freak shows and works of art...remember works of art can be ANYTHING..ugly things..pretty things..weird looking things...

Lol amen.. good luck trying to convince these people here though….

Remember, many people like to condemn #1 what they aren’t and/or #2 what they cant be and/or achieve..

Bodybuilders tease powerlifters, powerlifters tease bodybuilders… the longest running drama known to weightlifting. Its so funny to watch both groups as one things they are so “more right” than the other, meanwhile they are clueless.

Bottom line, IMHO, is that people that are doing what they love to do, and meeting their goals, are happier people to be around...whatever the goal is. That alone makes them more attractive than their "all talk' couterparts.

Tell that to the ladies here who think the skinny anorexic model type is “ewwwwwwwww”. As i think ive seen just about every women on this board mention how gross they think that look is.

But as far as BB vs PLtrs i was not referring to training style i was referring to their bodies.. Pltrs love to say "I dont understand why any man would prounce around on stage in a speedo and oil allover their bodies" and the BB say " i dont know why any person would want a 44 inch gut and eat tons of crap just to throw up some heavy weight for a day"

I'm sure Lenda doesn't give a damn. She wouldn't be where she is if she had moved every way the wind blew. She stuck to her goals and made it. I find that attractive.

Amen to THAT.

One of the great aspects of this women's discussion board is how much the women support each other - doesn't matter what the goal or sport. I think NY Muscle is thinking of a different board, because if he spent any real time on this board, he'd realize we're not like that.

Small pee-pee syndrome - hahahaha! I have to borrow that one, Spatts!

NYM i agree with you!! The reason i posted on this subject was becuase I was suprised what LITTLE coverage THe Ms. Olympia received on this board...... I figured there would have been some thing posted on the subject.. Like what about the Fitness Girls.. Susie Curry, Kelly Ryan, Jenni Worth,, No on has mentioned any of them...... I guess i was just a little disappointed,,, but owelll....

No my thinking is not of another board, I cant count how many times someone on here has said how nasty they think the skinny model look is and other stuff they said about them..but the BB vs PW I was making a generalization, they are 2 total different “styles” and they both criticize the other, im not saying they dislike the other but they like to make up jokes and stuff about the other type....I’m not talking about elitefitness im talking about in the real world out of this board…and if u didn’t know about this “on going drama” as I say then you need to get a clue.( this isnt directed at anyoen inparticular)

I know a lot of guys from Westside, and many of Louie Simmons boys who love to talk shit about bodybuilders who “pose in thongs and oil up”, doesn’t mean they hate them, its just something that has been going on forever, like cats Vs dogs, that is a fact.

They/we and even ME was too concerned with the whole Lenda Murray showing, that was pretty big to me, and its cool she won again.

Is that what you mean? Why they covered the female BB and not fitness?

oh and ps...i forget who mentioned it, but if you think these females are ONLY doing 400mg of androgens a week, wow you are sorely mistaken... a friend of mine dates an Ms O competitor..we talked "shop"one day..I almost passed out with the shit she told me she takes.

Lets be real here people, there are ladies on this board who have done almost that much or that much and dont look anything like them, (level of muscularity)...so imagine what girls who look like the pros must take..

WOW

Interesting thread folks. How about the return of Laura Crevalle, and Nancy Lewis to the stage. Neither of them placed well, but I was always a big fan of Nancy, the tinyest waist/hips in female bodybuilding. I wonder what her stats are?
BTW thanks Spatts for the compliment.
I hope to speak up more often.

Well kind of,, to me it just seemed like around the time of the O and even after, no one really commented on who won, how so and so looked ect... BB or Fitness.. I dont know, maybe i was just used to being at a few other boards where thats all they seemed to talk about.... I personally am not a big fan of Powerlifting shows or excersies, ect...., so i dont pay much attention to that part.. so i guess maybe thats where everyones intrest is in, the powerlifting and not the BB or Fitness...

I didn't comment on the fitness side because it wasn't exactly a surprise. Susie Curry in first, Kelly Ryan in second (as usual), Jenny Worth in third - not exactly a shocker. The only noteworthy part is they came in as hard as usual, even with the new "softer" mandates, but again, that wasn't exactly a surprise.

For the record, I think Dieslgrl looks better than BOTH of them. Having seen her pics, and seen her in person, she's perfect as is. If she wants to go on to the Ms. O level, she has 110% of what it takes, but the pics from her last show were the end-all-be-all, IMHO. Glowing skin, sparkling eyes, cut to shreds, perfect balance of size and symmetry for her frame. The right make-up, the right hair, the right suit, dead on posing...that girl's got it all.

In a few yrs with the added muscle maturity, if she enters the Ms O. she will win, that is a fact. And then I can say I knew/know Ms O and even met her and talked to her on the phone... omg grab a tissue, this is so emotional for me :D :D

spatts ,good call on dieslgrl ! i couldn't agree with you more"the girls awesome"with a smile that could light up a room....

Speaking of Laura, I am so amazed at how the years have played hell with her as she has also done her share. Her physical appearance has changed so very much as she has pushed herself to the edge over and over. But such is the same for most of our top female competitors.
