unbeleivable.........they still care more about strict adherence to doctrine than "REAL" justice. It was a 4-3 vote..........that blows my mind that there are 3 men in this world who are "presumably" of sound judicial temperament as to get where they are...............and they vote like this. It's abominable............and yeah, I hope that kid sues the fuck out of the state of Georgia........he deserves easy street for life. I dont know that the race issue was really pertinent to the adjudication. The sex offender laws in Georgia (cant speak the rest of the country) are goddamn fucking retarded. This case got a big sexy nationwide media push b/c it's an extreme example of the same absurdity we're seeing in this state all the time.

This case is more of the same stupid bullshit position that the government has a constitutional right to legislate personal choice. Adolescents are not children. They like to fuck, and will continue fucking as much as they possibly can, irrespective of their genitalia. A 15 yo old is no less able to provide informed consent than a 17 yo. This is all about using law enforcement and the judicial system to punish a teenager's choice to have sex.

Atlanta is in every way an international city, and pretty progressive in it's culture, but most of the rest of the state (and hence the members of the state legislature) are stunningly backward and puritanical. This is the kind of shit they come up with.

I agree with everything you said RW, but I think if the girl was black or latino the prosecutors would have laughed at the thought of bringing this kid to trial. Part of it probably had to do with the fact they couldn't get any of the kids on rape charges because the girl who got gangbanged was notorious for that.............so they saw this video tape and thought we're gonna get at least one of these fuckers.

If both were nonwhite, yeah I agree. There have been cases around here of all white parties where the young male was convicted though.
