14 years old too young to lift?

I'm 14 and I'm heavily into bodybuilding...started a little over a year ago. I've made incredible size and strength gains. Now I'm 5'11 at an even 200 pounds. So far I've had no negetive effect of being so into it as a young age...just make sure he learns correct form and learns about what he's doing and he should be fine.

Things to remember....

Bones are still developing at such a young age, and if you build too big and strong for your bones, your bones can actually bend. My mother used to work with a guy like this.... now he's 40, and all buckled. That's also because he only trained his chest and shoulders and neglected his back.

Also, there's some debate about this.... but I stopped growing when I started lifting heavy weights. Most bodybuilders are under the average height....

I think 14 is an okay age, but I would spend a year with him.... with light weight and high reps, getting his technique perfect on every exercise. Maybe even keep him on machines until he's 15 or so....

.... it's up to you, but I'd be careful if he were my brother.

14 IS PERFECT HE COULD GET A REALLY GOOD UNDERSTANDING AND ALSO AN EARLY START TO MUSCULAR ENHANCEMENT AND WELL BEING...I THINK ITS GREAT...GO FOR IT BRO!!!!:D

As Daniel Bishop pointed out there is the opinion that lifting weights at an early age stunts growth. I don't know if there is any substance to this, but just to be safe, I would use a light weight (70% of max) and go for high reps at this stage. As his body is still growing there is no need to force growth with big lifts.

i dont agree with not going hard,i went hard from the start(at 14) and i gained 40lbs in my first yr,but thats it gains stopped after that for the next two yrs,now ive resorted to gear,5 weeks in and im 180 now up 15 lbs

I think thats a good age to start tinkering with weights. Just lift high reps and don't go too hardcore yet. Get the form down and tone up. Later when you're 17+ you can start pumping iron and be way ahead of the game.
