Will Proviron help with libido problems (boy, that was not easy to admit)? I'm in my 50's, decent shape, but having a little trouble with...you know.....My wife is in her early 30s. Appreciate any help. (If I said anything out of line, sorry, 1st post here- joined yesterday) Someone at my gym mentioned something called aifm or AIFM- what is this, and will it help? Thanks in advance.
Best wishes to all.
The first thing you will find is that Schering's proviron is not FDA approved, so if you are in the US, you will not get a doc to prescribe this med for you. Proviron or mesterolone (17beta-hydroxy-1alpha-methyl-5alpha-androstan-3-one) is a close relative of human dihydrotestosterone.
I have taken proviron as well as topical androstanalone (Andractim) and both of them turned up my libido and gave me some errections that you could hang paint cans on. However, I have done all the blood work to find out that my T levels were low, so raising my DHT level would naturally help.
Here is the list of indications for Proviron
INDICATIONS
• Declining physical activity and mental alertness in middle- and old-aged men
Reduced efficiency, easy fatigability, lack of concentration, weak memory, disturbances of libido and potency, irritability, disturbances of sleep, depressive moods, and general vegetative complaints are often attributed to androgen-deficiency. These complaints can be overcome or improved by the use of Proviron tablets.
• Potency disturbances
Proviron overcomes potency disturbances due to androgen-deficiency. It may also be of use as supplementary therapy in cases of diminished potency where androgen-deficiency is not the primary cause.
• Hypogonadism
Growth, development and function of androgen-dependent target organs are stimulated by Proviron. It promotes development of secondary male sex characteristics in cases of prepuberal hypogonadism. Full clinical and laboratory investigations are necessary in all cases of young patients prior to commencement of treatment. Proviron tablets may also be used as a substitution therapy in cases where a loss of gonadal function has occurred post-puberally.
• Infertility
Oligozoospermia and deficient Leydig-cell secretion may be the cause of infertility. With Proviron treatment, sperm count can be increased, the quality improved and, furthermore, a higher fructose concentration up to normal values can be achieved thus increasing the chances of procreation.

AIFM is marketed as an aromitase inhibitor which if it really works will stop the break down of your body's testosterone into Estrogen. I have purchased AIFM, and thus far the jury is still out. If my lab results do not show it to be a ligit product, I will be the first to post on these boards that it is nothing more than expensive snake oil.
If you want to persue the aromitase inhibitor route to raise your total testosterone levels, have your doc prescribe arimidex for you. This medication has proven itself in legit scientific studies to do exactly what it claims to do.
Before you start taking any pills either of your own doing or under a MD's supervision, I would suggest some blood work. The following tests would be a good starting point: Total T, Free T, E2 (Estridiol), Prolactin, LH, FSH and a thyroid profile.
Low T, even moderately high E2 and high prolactin will kill your libido quicker than seeing Rosanne Barr in the nude.
If your goal is truly TRT, with the exception of absorption problems which are not that common, there is nothing wrong with gels. T creams from compounding pharmacies are a bit more affordable if you do end up doing TRT. If you use TRT as a guise for actually doing cycles of AAS, then of course you want to go with injectables.
Also are you taking any psychtropic medications? Many of them are notorious for decreasing libido and errections.
I would find out what your body is doing hormonally before letting some doc throw a pill at your problem.
