Is it just me who hates bulking?

I dont mind the muscle gains, but when I start gaining fat, i just start to lose it in the head, my motivation goes down, I start to hate my body, etc...

Am I alone in this?

I wont...I'm guessing being a chick this isn't unusual...but I cant convince my husband to do it either and the mofo looses bf like no ones biz...

no, I don't think its unusual....I mean, how big are ya trying to get?

are you dissatisfied w/o bulking? you not attaining certain levels you've set for yourself?

whats the dealio?

Thats honestly why Ive never really gotten above 190. Call me a vain bastard, but as soon as my bf gets into the double digits I start crying like an old widow.

most people here have a misconception (75th) of what "fat" really is. AV is right, you can eat mostly clean and put on some mass without too much fat. Besides all that pussy ass whining though...don't you like how much stronger you are even if you have a little chub? Now quit being a vagina and go move some heavy ass weight.

I know what fat really is...I just dont like it.

And when it comes the choice between looking the way I want and being able to deadlift an extra 50 pounds, I'd honestly take the former.

Its all about personal preference though.

you can lose fat. We're talking about being between 10-17% vs 6-10%, big fuckin deal! If being at 15-17% allows one to train optimally for size and strength, and they get to 260-290 at the 12-17% range, they can easily trim down to 245-275 at 8% (hell 4% if they wanted to, but 8% is more long term manageable). 17% is unacceptable for you, but 17% still looks better than the average guy out there.

That, and genetics.

:(

BTW, youre not one to talk about genetics:

True that. Although, me going from lets say 9% to 15% would entail having to get new suits and clothes and shit, which is no bueno.

haha yes sir.. although i'm getting a bit fat.. idc anymore lol, i'll just do cardio and its winter..

But its just a "young" thing... ill look sharp by summer.

that's why i never go over 6%bf at all times or never dip down below a 7 figure income. thank god my cawk can't shrink under 8 inches though

I hate suits.

I had to buy a suit for my buddy's wedding in June. He purchased them all up front and we all reimbursed him. He got a deal on them so it wasn't too expensive. Anyway, suits were in and 3 of us all went in at the same time to get our suits tailored.

One guy is like 6'1" 175 lbs, pretty much an off the rack guy, cuff the pants - $20.

Another guy is maybe 6'0" about 225, muscular but carrying a good amount of fat - stocky dude. He needed a little more tailoring so his was $40.

I'm 6'2" around 235, I needed all kinds of shit. Had to have pants taken in at the waist so much they said they were going to have to do a bunch of work to make them look right (buying rack suits they figure if you're getting a 46 coat you must have a 44 or so waist). Coat had to come in at the waist too. Shoulders and arms were tight, but as long as I didn't raise my arms up and across it was OK (like scratching my left shoulder with my right arm or something).

They cut me a deal on it and only charged me $60.

I'm glad I don't have to wear a fucking suit all the time.

Not to mention I sweat like a hostage in those fucking things.

Oh and dress shirts? LOL! I go to the Big & Tall to find my neck size (19.5 to 20) and then I look like I'm wearing a table cloth. So I have to get dress shirts tailored too.

I think if I had to wear a stupid suit all the time I'd just get a fat gut to match my upper torso/shoulders. It'd be easier.

Good reason to not have a cat.

Back when I did have a cat, he knew better than to get up on any furniture/counter tops lest he get knocked across the room.

Unfortunately I have to wear suits every day. I cant stand buying one / having one made and it not fitting right 3 months later.

Pisses my wife off, too.

I always feel like a beastman when I can't button the neck up on my dress shirts anymore.

But then I rage when I have to go buy another one @ $79.99

When I train regularly and eat clean I can cut fat and gain strength at the same time. It's probably slower than it would be if I committed to one or the other at any one time but since I'm not competing and not trying to gain mass, it works out well. My fitness goals have always only been half cosmetic and half functional anyway. I need a strong back and arms to pull drop lines and anchors out of the water (or a 250lb man, as it was once over the summer). I need strong legs to climb a tree ladder with a set of doubles on my back in four foot seas. I need to be strong enough to lift an aluminum 100 tank several feet over my head in an awkward position to get them onto land from the dock after a boat trip. On the flip side I have to keep up with gut busting cardio to keep my lung capacity, CO2 max, and lactic acid tolerance maxed out for freediving.

Two areas I wish I could gain a little size - gluts and hams. But as hard as I train both those areas, I can't really imagine I'm going to make much ground when i'm doing max effort cardio 3/4 hours a week that's probably eating up whatever muscle I gained the day before. So till I'm where I want to be with my freediving fitness levels, I'm basically lifting to not LOSE muscle lol.

Thats amazing! You are one tough chick.

Thats amazing! You are one tough chick.

hah...I have to be. I'm the only female working at my dive shop (and at that I actually only know of one other woman on the entire NC coast working for dive shops who actually crew the boats). Ironically there are maybe two guys I work with who are on par with me athletically (they also freedive)....the rest are soft, lazy rich kids. Anyway, I feel like I'm responsible for representing my gender well because female mid atlantic divers have an unfortunate reputation for being either totally incompetant or total manbeasts.

Conditions in NC can be amazing....and they can be like the day a couple of months ago where it was so rough that 2/3 of the customers got sick. When I'm on the boat I'm responsible for making sure everyone has fun, has a good dive, and no one dies. The first of the three motivates the cosmetic factor haha, the last of the three motivates the need to be as strong as I can be for my size.

There are SO many factors, that you can't really just solve a problem like that without experimenting on your own body and seeing how it responds to all kinds of different plans. It's not necessarily what you eat, or when you eat it, or how much, etc. If you start to put on body fat, you're either not metabolizing your calories as fast as you're taking them in, or your body is fooled into thinking you're about to starve (that's why binge dieters always fail). The other thing is; I can't remember if you gave your age, but you might be converting testosterone into estrogen abnormally, which is more common that people know. That would cause even good quality eating habits to put on body fat, although so could other things. If you're in your late teens/early 20s, it's probably not the estrogen conversion unless you have hormone problems such as aldosteronism, diabetes, thyroid problem, etc. That would be best solved with a blood test for free testosterone and estrogen. BUT, regardless of your age, if you're on any kind of testosterone, that can actually cause your body to start converting it to estrogen, which is why many of us have to take Arimidex or other pills to stop that.

The bottom line is, if you are making this sport your goal, just keep working and refining and modifying how you eat and how you work out, until you find your spot and you WILL be successful at it. It took me 25 years to figure it out for myself. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably get a blood test first, and go from there.

The heaviest I ever got was to 278 at 16%. I held in the high 260's and low 270's for years. But the heaviest I ever got was while running around 3g's of sust per week let alone tren hex and orals. I think most of my gains during bulking were from slin of course. But even at that weight and % it's still hard on the heart

its funny but when I lifted people all day every day for a living.....I probably ate the poorest in my life but for sure had the lowest BF %
constant takeout, lotta subway...easily 3000 cals on any given day with 12 hr shifts

the average patient was around 250 lbs (with some 400 lbers thrown in but thats a 4 person maneuver), plus 80 lbs of stretcher and a jump pack and d tank weighing about 40 lbs...my partner was 100 lbs and 5' nothing so..not a ton of help...lol
so yeah, my glutes and hams were pretty amazing as was my back and arms (rapid extrication maneuvers)

I saw zero need to lift weights of any kind..now I lift like crazy, try to eat very clean and my body comp is very disatisfactory to me
tho lately Im too tired to lift :(
man I hate a ferno stretcher.......

So you can kick my ass and bake great pies?

<sigh>

Not entirely sure, but I'd guess around 13-15%. I can see abs, and I hold most of my fat around my midsection, so that's probably accurate on the high side.
