Been in your situation, bro... My ex did that, with a dang Calvin Klein underwear model who was in better shape than I was, and was 10 years younger. She confessed the same night, and she was all upset, and I forgave her for it. She didn't do it again, and it wasn't the reason she's my ex. It stabs all the way to the bone; I know. If you don't think she's your future, this is a great chance to end it with you on top. If you do want to save it, find out the real reason why she did it, and work on that. Blaming yourself or her, or punishing, won't fix it for sure. Cheating in a good relationship happens because something needs to be worked on, and isn't being. Cheating can also be a sign of a relationship that shouldn't be.

1: you were emotionally unavailable or not fitting some emotional need that some other man temporarily met to comfort her cus she was lonely
2: shes a complete harlot and just wanted pleasure principle sex and whatever 'seductive' pleasures were there.

1 would at least get my sympathy ( but still a break up forever), 2 would get non existence treatment.

Many addicts, not just naive girls, turn to drugs because they are suicidal, depressed, or trying to escape from prior traumas. This does not mean that they were accidentally hooked.
You don't take one shot of heroin and get instantly hooked. You do one, and feel good, you do another and feel good again, you do a few more, and like those too. Eventually, a physical addiction develops. Physical addiction sucks, but is not accidental. You gotta pay to play.

But no, it isn't accidental. Doctors and pharmacists tell you the risks before you start on opiates. An accident victim might weigh the risks and chose the drugs. But s/he knew the risks. That isn't accidental, that is making a choice. Such an individual might be surprised by the pain of withdrawal, but I still would not consider that to be an accidental addiction - especially if it spirals into the kind of addiction that actually makes the person "do things they don't want to do."

When I had my ACL repaired I was given two prescriptions, one for darviset and the other for perococet. I took two regular strength Tylenol before bed because I couldn't stand the way pain killers made me feel in the hospital. I let the nurses drug me up right before bed so I could sleep but I also didn't have to feel mentally lethargic and "out of it" because I was sleeping. Basically, I spent my days in pain because I didn't like feeling drugged.

Oxycontin was never supposed to be a general use pain medication, it was supposed to be a terminal drug. That being said, doctors have become doctor feel goods because they have to make up for being screwed by the government on reimbursements.

I've had demerols perscribed post-surgery, and it didn't make me suddenly do idiotic things that I wouldn't normally do. Drugs/alcohol as an excuse for disgusting behavior doesn't fly in my view, and I don't know why anyone would give a pass in that situation.
I've seen too many people use their drinking and/or pill-popping as an excuse to live their lives like assholes, and I'm sick and tired of it.
Also seen a few friends try to be rescuers to girls that had serious problems (psychological, drug addictions, ect) and lose time, money, and their dignity for their troubles. It's JUST NOT WORTH IT.

Here's why: If I'm a back pain patient who's going to bounce between orthopedic specialists or neurologists, I'm going to rack-up bills for back braces, shoe orthotics, physical therapy, MRI's, etc. etc. And I'll eventually find a doctor who wants to cut on me. He'll do a 1-2 level fusion and it won't help me. And I'll still need MRI's, physical therapy and more braces -- until he cuts me again.
Enter the solution: A $0.10 oxycontin pill. If that pain management doctor can keep me stoned and happy for the next 30 years and bill me for pain management services, he'll cost the insurers vastly less money -- even if he is billing for his particular services. And when you do become an addict, who does it cost? It doesn't cost CMS or the insurance provider -- the people who pay the price are the friends and family of patient.
And no, this isn't some vast conspiracy. It's simply economics -- and it's a sign of things to come. As we try to take more and more money out of health care, the best way to do it is to cost shift away from providers who send bills (hospitals, surgery centers, DME providers, HHC providers) and toward the patient's friends and family.
Learn it, live it, love it -- because you won't have any other choice.

They have to hit bottom, and realize that there is no other option but sobriety. Not everyone gets that far.
Addiction is an incurable, fatal disease.
Just because it is a disease does not make the person unaccountable for their actions though.
Speaking as a recovering drug addict with almost three years of sobriety, I can attest to the fact that no one can make you go to rehab. No one can keep you sober.
I had to lose everything I loved before I "got it".
The best thing you can do for an addict is to walk away.
They have to hit bottom, and realize that there is no other option but sobriety. Not everyone gets that far.
Addiction is an incurable, fatal disease.
