What are some good scary movies?

None of the Saw movies though, thats just gore and I want more scare

Monsters zombies or vampires (although sexy) dont scare me.

What do you think?

the first few friday the 13th (can't wait for the new one to come out), the first few halloween movies. rob zombie's remake was decent. the original amity ville horror, the remake was also decent. i'll try and make a list of my favs. i'm really into horror movies more than anything. post up ones you wanna rent and i'll tell you if they sucked or not haha that might be easier

I guess its kind of old now but I just saw it a couple of months ago, and dont remember the name but the one with Jim Carey where he gets obsessed with the number 23 (I think) that was a good kinda scary one.

I have no idea because I never watch them - ever

The remake of the amityville horror......that one was decent you say?

That sounds pretty good

Ive seen it

I need scarier than that

thanks though :)

23 was pretty good. def not scary though.

DON'T watch the happening!!!!!!!!!! i told off walburg via myspace for starring in that piece of shit. i ended the letter in "i'll fly to fight you while singing good vibrations"

i'll have to look at hollywood videos lists to see what all i've rented. the majority of them did suck though so i'll spare you those ones. the new one coming out for holloween about that chick who turns 18 looks good. friday the 13th comes out on 2/13/09.

oh yeah i did rent the strangers. it was supposedly based on a true story but pretty good!

lol I fuggin rented the happening already. I know what you mean. lmao. I love walburg though

the strangers??/ Based on a true story? I love ones that are "based on a true story"

they scare me!

The exorcism of Emily Rose scared the crap out of me!

yeah usually the "based on" ones are the best. once in a while you'll get a shitty one. the emily rose one was decent. have you watched mirrors or whatever it's called???

Knocked up.

Cant believe noone has mentioned The Exorcist...for it's time it was totally fucked up and still is. Especially if you are religious in any way.

Other favs: The Grudge (although the Japanese version Ju-on is better), the original Night of the Living Dead (from '68), the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was pretty good although nothing compared to the original, same with The Hills Have Eyes.

I have seen the exorcist and it was one of the scariest movies I've seen

That and the exorcism of Emily Rose

the first time I attempted to see the exorcism of Emily Rose I had to turn off the TV with my face turned away because I just couldnt take anymore,

The next time I watched it during the day intead of at night lol

Good and scary movie are contradictons of terms for me.

How about April Fools Day? Fright Night?

+1 Like 'em both. Fright Night especially.

The Exorcist was definitely one of the best romantic comedies of a generation. :D

Other films you may enjoy . . .

Pet Semetary, Carrie, Cujo, Maximum Overdrive, Christine, The Shining & IT (i.e. the full compliment of Stephen King flicks)

My Bloody Valentine (has since been "reimagined" and will be re-released in 3D in 2009)

Nightmare of Elm Street 1, 3, 4 & Wes Craven's "New Nightmare" (the rest in the series are most appropriately classified as comedies)

Prom Night

(Hello Mary Lou) Prom Night 2

Scream (the first sequence scared the shit out of me).

Creepshow 1 & 2

Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (I love this one)

The People Under The Stairs

Man...I'll probably get reamed for this, but I watched blair witch project again recently, in the dark, and what it lacked in gore and "gotcha" moments it made up for overwhelmingly in creepiness and leaving one feeling completely unsettled by "unknown/unseen" factors. That freaking last scene...even thinking about it again makes me shudder.

I loved seeing this in the theatre. They did a phenomenal job marketing this thing too. It was a helluva return on investment for whoever made it.

Are you looking for something suspenseful or something gory? Films from Dario Argento are spooky if you can get into the quirky, baroque sets, first person viewpoints, and stylized violence. Many American horror classics such as "Friday the 13th", "Halloween", and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" are essentially lesser mimicries of Argento's style.

His closest approximation to "The Exorcist" would be "Susperia" if you like occult thrillers.

I always thought "Angel Heart" was an underappreciated horror film. Roman Polanski made some excellent horror films back in the day. His most recent I think was "The Ninth Gate", but that was pretty weak in my opinion. His best known horror film is "Rosemary's Baby", which I thought was excellent, as were "Repulsion" and a very similar film he made called "The Tenant".

Just saw "30 Days of Night" last night. Awesome vampire flick. And these aren't sexy vampires either, they're nasty fuckers. The movie was pretty lengthy and all kinds of gory. I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely rent worthy.

event horizon! that right there is a fucked up movie.

1408 was good but not too scary.

the strangers was superb, especially in theaters.

Good to hear that about "The Strangers." Downloading that off iTunes right now.

1408 was pretty good (more of a thinker though)
the mist sucked but the ending will totally get you like a punch to the mouth (really fucked up)
