Importance of BCAAs

Who has found that using a Bcaa supplement while weight training aids in muscle recovery, growth and energy levels. I've recently read that in lab rats the amino acids prolonged their lives altogether. Anyone had any good or bad experience with them?

I started using the glutamine and BCAA's from powerchews due to recovery issues and I feel it has helped.

Nelson, 3 questions:

Gear replaces BCAA's?

The bottle says a serving before and after workouts. How long before and after workouts should the servings be taken?

How many other times a day and @ what dose should they be taken?

I find they help me a good bit. I take mine 15 mins before working out, sip a BCAA drink while I workout, and right after I workout. Seems to help keep muscle on, and keep me from being too catabolic during a workout. Just my .02 cents

I like BCAA they are very good for you they are a muscle building block just as important as Glutamines. I am taking powerchews BCAA right now......

I'm pretty sure most people take a couple caps about a half an hour before meals up to 10caps ed

GEAR contains BCAA's and more. You can take them anytime you need the anabolic/anti catabolic effects. First thing in the morning, in between meals, along with low protein meals, before workout, after workouts, at night. There's no exact science to it. 10 -15 pills a day is where you start to notice the difference. You're a little fuller, a little more dense and you know you're getting enough protein as opposed to wasting work outs by not getting sufficient amino's.

Love them brother and don't ever leave them out. I know it's old school but Arnold did say they are the basic building blocks of our bodies. I like Scivation's Xtend. It's the only powder form that taste good to imp. Orbitnutrition carries it. Very popular brand.

I feel the exact same about them. Drinking while working out is great

Xtend hurt my stomach. I took them on a fasting day, like the diet said to. and my stomach hurt all day. I have a pure powder with no artificial flavors in it, so i will try that now.

i take some xtend and it doesnt bother me, ever. ill take during conditioning or weights if i havent had a meal or shake right before. having some bcaa right now between meals. also helps me drink more water!

I think i'm sensitive to sucralose

Ill agree with the scivation xtend. I split up the 2 servings in 4 drinks through out the day. 2 when working out one in the morning and one at night. And ill take a full serving in the morning before cardio so i can do it on an empty stomach. Help burn more fat. You should always have 4 basics.... Creatine, Protein, BCAA's, and Multi.... That simple, good diet and maybe preworkout here and there and you should be good to go....

If I am taking shaked before and after my workout's do I really need them? After all the shakes have all the amino acids anyway

If your taking in a quality whey isolate and have several shakes a day i don't see the need to supplement with extra bcaa's.

In saying that I am going to try gear on my next ntbm order.

if you're lifting a lot, like 4-5 days a week and hard, then I would say put them in. They are awesome for recovery and building muscle.

But if Im taking shakes (which have all the amaino acids in them) surely there is no need to take them?
