Sylvester Stallone is one of the most popular action movie stars of all time. He is considered one of the most fit guys in Hollywood, having played several characters who were boxers, military studs, cops, and general badasses capable of taking on small armies.
He is currently 71 years old and his stats are 5'8" et 185 livres.
Early life and background
Stallone is actually not 100% Italian as everyone thinks. His father immigrated from Italy, but his mother was half French and half Ukrainian. He did grow up in Hell's Kitchen, New York, which has its fair share of Italians. Another thing people do not know about Stallone is that his slurred speech and facial appearance impairment were caused by a birth medical issue where the doctors mistakenly cut one of his nerves at birth.
TV and movies
His first major accredited roles were in the late 60's for shows MASH and movies like Downhill Racer, and Pigeons. His popularity skyrocketed in 1976, with an Oscar-winning movie he wrote and starred in called 'Rocky'. It was an inspiring rags to riches movie about a boxer who starts out working as a debt collector and is chosen to take on the world champion. The movie had a tiny 1M budget and would make over 225M. His best movie of the 80's was First Blood (Rambo part 1) where he played a bitter Vietnam veteran who is bullied by a small town sheriff.
He would star in many movies throughout the 80's and 90's. De plus, his other popular movies were Copland, Over the Top, Demolition Man, and Cobra.
Maybe his biggest mistake of the 80's was turning down the role for Beverly Hills Cop, which was scooped up by Eddie Murphy and would go on to be one of the classic action/comedy movies of the 80's. Bien que, it's doubtful Stallone could play a “funny” cop like Eddie Murphy did.
Ups and downs in his career
Stallone has a fierce fan base of young males dating back to the early 80's that have stuck with him as they have aged. His Rocky and Rambo series movies had many sequels, though none even came close to his originals.
This type of story-line has been played out over and over with movies and are unoriginal. In the 90's, studios stopped bankrolling his movies with mega budgets. Malgré cela, he still had enough box office success and his movies, la plupart du temps, end up with a profit even though many of his fans admit they were disappointed in some of his movies.
His most successful roles were Rocky and Creed, where he received Oscar nominations for best actor and best supporting actor. He also was nominated for a best original screenplay for Rocky. To this day the original Rocky movie is considered a classic.
Training
Stallone actually did some of his stunts in his movies and did not like to use stunt doubles as much as other actors. Also because he played badasses in his movies he had to look a certain way and that took a lot of dedication with training and diet.
For his Rocky 2 role, he had Franco Columbu (former Mr. Champion de l’Olympia) help him train. Franco pushed him hard and he would train 6X per week - 2X per day doing 4-day split routine of legs, push, Précédent, arms in the mornings, and be doing arms, abs, back split in the afternoon. Au cours de cette formation, Stallone admitted he hated waking up in the morning and going to the gym and would ask himself if it was worth it. He had the drive to actually pull through.
During his late Rambo roles, he was in his early 60's and still trained hard. His workouts would be twice per day splitting up weights and cardio. He looked incredible for someone his age when he did his Rambo 4 role in 2008.
We can speculate he stays in great shape in his 70's with a simple steroid cycle:
*5-6IU's HGH per day
*400mg Testosterone Enanthate/per week
He also will blast Primobolan at 600mg per week and Tbol at 30mg per day ahead of appearances.
