Your pet or a bum on the street

Well, for me my dog was just as much as family as any other member. I think that speaks true for most of us. I was so hurt (still am) over the recent departure of my loved on. So I would pick my pet.

I love my cat(s), let them lick my face and sleep in my bed; shit, I won't even make eye contact with a homeless person.

I hate to say it but I kind of put homeless people in the same category as human pigeons.

so you all would save your pet?

No dude. It's opposite day.

BTW, why the hell is Tiki leaving your boys? It sucks being an Iggles fan, because I like the Giants this year. He's a great player to watch and seems like a good guy off the field too.

Agree.

Aren't we a selfish lot.

i think because tom coughlin is a prick and he would stick around if another coach was coaching the team and wasn't on his ass like a bad wedgie. tom coughlin is a major asshole and rides every player.

i also think, he has taken a serious beating over the past ten years and wants to retire relatively healthy. he is still going to make serious money once out of football. i don't think he wants to wind up like john stockton and karl malone. sticking around for a ring and never winning one when your knees are telling you to retire.

I got news for you. My pet versus 99% of all EF'ers and George Spellbling is just gonna have one less visitor.

I don't think so, but I've been called evil because I perceive natural selection as a beautiful thing.

Cold as it sounds, I just can't work up an outpouring of compassion for any being, human or animal, that doesn't respect itself and have a little dignity.

ok, what if the person wasn't a bum and just a regular person with a job? then who you pick?

I don't know them. I've unconditionally loved my boy for 7 years now and it's been reciprocated. Most people are only a paycheck away from financial ruin anyway.

For most of us our pets are our family (shit, for a lot of us our pets treat us BETTER than our own relatives ever have) the love and bond we feel for them is real. So the question you're really asking is would we choose to sacrifice a member of our family, that we actually LIKE, for a total stranger.

Id save the bum , although a bum might smell and look a bit nasty it is still a human life and still worth keeping over a pet imo

There are plenty of good Buddhists who would argue with you that life is life, it's ALL valuable, ant, bird, horse, man, bear, lion ...

So you're saying that some addict who literally eats off the street, begs money just to get stoned and pass out, who wouldn't think twice about slitting someone's throat for enough money to score more of their drug of choice is more precious than ANY animal, no matter how intelligent, affectionate, or dearly loved that animal is.

Can't say I agree with you but to each his own. I can't see the reason of saving a life that doesn't contribute to society just because it happens to be, at least theoretically, a member of my own species.

hahaha you are funny ! I was just saying what id do in this point in time

The pet, it's not even a difficult decision. The life of a complete stranger has limited value to me, as they really don't affect my life. The pet, however, affects my life...therefore it's life is more valuable to me.

Shit, I doubt I'd sacrifice any of my favorite posessions to save the life of a miscellaneous person as laid out in this scenario, let alone a pet.
