Your parents or friends ever tell you your getting too big?

people that would be content with average disgust me!
only a hopeless fool with no ambition at all would EVER be content with average!

Most people half ass their way through every aspect of life. Thus when anyone does something to an "extreme" (ie: following through and using their full potencial) it is viewed as out of balance or an unhealthy, waste of time, obsession. Bullshit! The only waste of time is to end up dying only to realize you have never lived at all. To have a passion for something, to really devote yourself and acheive extrodinary results is to know what it is to be alive. Fuck the haters.

I'm 6' 01" and had it happen when I hit 252 lbs. My parents and girlfriend thought I was too big, meanwhile I was hoping to go higher. Down to 225 lbs. now and they all think I look great but they don't understand....size matters!!

I used to have this problem with my family. They would make fun of me for eating all the time and ask why I was "obsessed" with lifting and gaining weight. It took me a while to realize they were only doing it for the reaction. I started just smiling whenever they would say something and shrugging it off. Before long, it stopped because they realized that I "just didn't give a fuck".

That last sentance says it all, who cares? Do what you do and just ignore them. I have found ESPECIALLY with family, when you ignore then, it really makes them mad and when they ask you whats wrong and why are you ignoring them, then tell them you got sick of hearing their crap about your muscle and working out etc; get over it already. There were times at a family gathering or whatever I would just get up and leave when they started in abotu steroids and what not. I mean get in my car and just leave. I did this with my sister and she got SO mad it was funny. However, she stopped talking about it and thats all I really wanted anyways. Either that or at your next family get together, go right up to the main "problem" and grab their arm and tell them they are too fat or too skinny and just go on and on about it. I hate to admit it but I kinda get off on giving people a dose of their own medicine. 9 times out of 10 your point will come across crystal clear.

my mom doesn't get it. she goes, why do u have to get fat and then loose it all? after explaining it 8,000 times, i just go, eh. haha , she still goes , you're fat, and im like 12% ! but she really likes it when im like 6% , kinda hard to be that year round, lol. and yes , she did ask if i was on steriods, of course not, those are bad and cause you to kill yourself, lol.

I'm not even that big, and my family and some of my friends give me constant shit about my size. They keep saying I'm trying to become Tony Little (of all people!) and say how I'm getting fat, or too big, or too bulky - or too anything. No one appreciates that I'm working out everyday between lifting, cardio, and other outdoor hobbies. It's always, why are you getting so big? I'm seriously starting to get really tired of it, and even have told people not to say anything until they start working out as much as I am. It always starts back up again.

I'm 5'5 172 13% - and people still tell me I'm fat. Especially relatives (granted I come from an asian family where the average male is like 150lbs). I mean, seriously. As a result, I've cut my next cycle down a little, and have resorted to wearing baggy shirts around people to make it not as apparent (ah...until summer - then it's all over) . It's just really starting to get to me - and starting to effect my attitude in the gym.

Ahhh. I just had to vent a little. It's really frustrating. I mean, the only people I get compliments on for my lifts are mainly from people I don't know, or the regulars at the gym. Everyone else, people that really mean something to me, tell me I'm fat.

Bro, I have exactly the same stats as you except I'm 10% body fat and I know what you mean about people saying we're too big. I mean at 5'5" and 172 fairly lean is pretty stalky at our height and i get the, "he has to be on roids he too freakin' jacked", before it made me really mad but I take it as a compliment because if they say your too big then that means you look big and that means your doing something right!

As some of the guys said, screw them, you train for you because that's your passion and It's what brings you rest and relaxation, this may sound funny but it's true. When I go to the gym I feel great and have a really good night sleep, I look good and people notice and that and compliment me on how much work it must be let alone the discipline of a clean and sound diet. Just on the weekend I had some girl come up to me and comment on my back how shaped it was and that sparked up a conversation and now i have her phone number, so the bottom line is that those who appreciate someone who trains hard notice.

And as someone earlier metioned, jealousy has many different heads so if they shoot you down and you know damn well that you look just fine then just walk away and remind yourself that they wish they could be like you but they're just too damn lazy to put in the effort we all do.

Keep your head up bro!

I don't live with my family, I'm 22, been out of the house since 17. And I still visit them since all the places I lived have never been further than like 20 miles. They don't even notice, that in the last few months I've been getting bigger and bigger, even when I walk around with a shirt off like after swimming. To me that's actually like sucky, cause I want them to say something. My dad always says "You always were a strong kid" i'm just like wtf. Cause I used to work out and run like 3 hours a day back in high school when I played lacrosse. So I'll actually be happy, when he says "Son, you're getting big" lol.

Since I hardly ever see my family, and I am truly the biggest in the family, I get crap all the time. My mom has bitched at me cause her friends say that "I must be on steroids to be that big". Shows you how ignorant people can be on nutrition and working out (even though the juice is a nice incentive:)
