x-ray's scanners

x-ray's scanners

Lets say you were leaving Europe to US and wanted to bring back some stuff hidden in you luggage....

what are the x-rays capable of seeing? I know carbon paper can block some, but say you had a solid object with the stuff inside. Would the x-ray be able to see through the solid object and look at the stuff or would it just display the solid object?

What about liquids? Stuff hidden in shampoo bottles etc...

Not sure if i should reply or not but.The metal caps will show up on a x ray unless they are in another metal object that is thicker. But it wouldn't be obvious what they are cause of the little metal used.As far as glass amps, no they will not be seen.Putting a bottle or amp would not be smart since one there is metal and two your displacing the liquids consistancy and that can be seen but maybe not caught by the screener.I've wondered myself about carrying back stuff on me and i think there is so little metal on a cap i could prob. make it but never have tried.Taping amps to your thighs is the best bet.

Hey D,

I thought about all that stuff, and ended up just pouring all the stuff into a new visine bottle for transport. I filtered through a .45 mic filter into a sterile glass vial, and then sterilised it when I got home. I tried to think of a bunch of way to do it, and with the security, its tough.

I fly 3-5 times a month, and get checked probably 30-50 % of the flights (not including customs). You have to deal with random, as well as suspect screenings at the airport security gate (generally x-ray, and if picks a full pat down, metal wand, shoe check). Once you make it through the checkpoint, they have screenings (some computer picked, some the ticket gate attendee chooses) as you board the plane.

Then there is customs which is normally easy, but then again, if unlucky you can get pegged there.

While I still haven't decided if I am even going to use the gear I bought.

Really, the x-rays were my last concern, its the pat downs and bag searches that bother me.

The visine trick was recommended to me by someone, and it looks ok. I just posted a thread about it, and silly Tha One Crumcake posted something about me turning into a ninja. So far people seem to think its not a good idea. I think I may just make up some agar plates and nutrient broth to see if anything cultures from it. I have a feeling i would be safe, but better to be safe than sorry.

Toodles!

It's an x-ray machine bro...that's what they're made for.

Now for some real advice, lol. All x-ray machines are looking for are bombs and weapons. I'm sure the security could give a rat's ass what gear you have. If you are travelling domestic then don't worry about it. It's the customs that you have to worry about when coming into america from another country.
